Chapter 6 - A New Dawn (The Unbelievable Ending)

The ride back to the Vance estate was dead silent.
The weight of the night’s revelations hung heavily in the air. Inside the estate, Bianca stood by the grand fireplace, her hands cradling her stomach. She turned to Dominic, her eyes searching his scarred face.
“Did you do it?” she asked quietly. “Did you order the hit on my uncle Raymond five years ago?”
Dominic looked at her, his gray eyes filled with an agonizing honesty. “Yes.”
Bianca’s breath hitched.
“But not for the reasons you think,” Dominic continued, walking to his desk and pulling out an old, dusty leather folder. He handed it to her. “Your uncle Raymond wasn't just a businessman, Bianca. Five years ago, he kidnapped three young girls from our shipping docks to sell them to the 'Shadow Protocol' research facility. I found out. I saved the girls, and I eliminated the monster who took them. I didn’t do it to start a war with your family. I did it because it was the right thing to do.”
Bianca opened the folder. Inside were police reports, photos of rescued children, and Raymond’s personal journal detailing his involvement in the human trafficking ring.
Her uncle hadn't been a victim. He had been a monster. And her father had covered it up.
Dominic walked over and gently knelt in front of her, placing his hands on her waist, his face resting against her stomach. “I didn't know you then, Bianca. But the moment you walked into my house, I knew I would spend the rest of my life protecting you and our child. If you want me to leave, if you want to take the shipping empire and run, I will let you go. But I will always be your shield.”
Bianca looked down at the feared crime boss of New York, kneeling before her, offering her his vulnerability and his empire.
She closed the folder.
“I don’t want you to leave, Dominic,” she whispered, tears slipping down her cheeks. “The Romano dynasty is dead. It’s time to build a new one.”
One Year Later
The headline of the New York Times read: “CONSPIRACY OF THE ELITE: ROMANO AND CARUSO SENTENCED TO LIFE IN PRISON. VANCE LOGISTICS BECOMES THE LARGEST LEGITIMATE SHIPPING EMPIRE IN NORTH AMERICA.”
In the sun-drenched gardens of the Vance estate, a laughter-filled breeze blew from the Hudson River.
Bianca sat on a white terrace chair, watching Dominic hold their nine-month-old daughter, Victoria. The feared "Butcher of New York" was currently making silly faces, letting the baby pull on his dark hair.

Bianca smiled, a cup of warm tea in her hands. Her family had sold her, thinking she was broken, barren, and powerless.
But they had sent her straight to the one man who could help her conquer the world.
