Chapter 19 - The ExecutionTwo weeks later, the federal courtroom was once again packed to the absolute brim. But this time, the atmosphere was entirely different. There was no defense theater. No desperate bargaining.

My father sat in the third row, cooperating fully with the federal prosecutor, having chosen truth over the suffocating cage of blackmail.

At the defense table, my ex-fiancé—flown in from his maximum-security facility under heavy armed guard—looked across the room. His eyes met mine for a fraction of a second. The arrogant, untouchable smirk was entirely gone, replaced by a dark, simmering realization that his final, desperate move had completely backfired.

Judge Henderson adjusted his glasses, scanning the comprehensive federal duress petition and the uncorrupted asset transfer ledger submitted by our legal team.

"Mr. Vance," Judge Henderson’s voice echoed through the silent courtroom with devastating finality. "This court has reviewed the supplementary evidence provided by the restitution group. It appears your final attempt to weaponize coerced proxies has not only failed, but has triggered an immediate federal expansion of your existing sentence."

The defense attorney didn't even bother standing up. He simply stared down at his papers, defeated.

"For obstruction of justice, witness coercion, and systematic financial extortion," Judge Henderson continued, striking the gavel down with a sharp, thunderous crack, "this court sentences the defendant to an additional fifteen years in federal prison, to be served consecutively with his current term, alongside total, irrevocable forfeiture of all hidden assets."

Bang.

The gavel fell. The nightmare was officially, permanently extinguished.

As the armed marshals hauled my ex-fiancé out of the courtroom for the last time, he didn't look back. He vanished through the heavy oak doors into the gray shadows of the prison transport system, leaving behind a legacy built on sand that had finally washed away.
