Chapter 10 - The Horizon We BuiltThe grand opening of Haven House on a crisp October morning was everything the gala had tried to be, and everything Ethan Cole’s glittering towers could never capture.

There were no flashing paparazzi lights, no hollow speeches about corporate dominance, and no whispered threats in the shadows.
Instead, the courtyard was filled with sunlight, laughter, and the soft chatter of families, social workers, and community leaders. Children ran across the central lawn, playing tag around the stone fountain while their mothers sat on wooden benches beneath the autumn trees, surrounded by open space, warm light, and absolute safety.
Maya stood near the entrance plaque, wearing a simple emerald dress, her fingers resting lightly on the polished brass lettering:
HAVEN HOUSE: Built for Safety, Designed for Dignity.
Arthur Vance stood beside her, shaking her hand warmly. “You changed the architectural landscape of this city forever, Maya. Not by building higher, but by building deeper.”
Across the courtyard, standing near the mahogany reception doors, Roman watched her. He wore a dark suit, his hands tucked quietly into his pockets, blending effortlessly into the background yet anchoring the entire space with his presence.
He didn't need to step into the spotlight. He didn't need to issue threats or flex his corporate empire.
The building stood strong, the foundation was unbreakable, and the woman who designed it owned the horizon.
Maya caught his eye across the lawn.

Roman gave her a slow, knowing nod.
She smiled back, turned toward the families walking through the open, sunlit corridors, and stepped forward into her future—not as someone hiding in the shadow of a powerful man, but as an architect who had finally built a world where no one would ever have to look over their shoulder again.
