CHAPTER 10 — "THE GREATEST CHAMPION OF THEM ALL"

The lights dimmed.
A giant screen descended from the ceiling.
A video began to play.
It showed clips from that unforgettable night.
Ryan stepping into the ring.
The Iron Titan laughing.
The little hospital bracelet.
The champion kneeling before the boy.
The hospital match.
The championship belt around Ryan's waist.
When the video ended, the audience was already standing.
Then the announcer spoke.
"Today, the National Wrestling Federation has voted unanimously to create a permanent honor unlike any other."
Two officials carried a polished wooden case onto the stage.
Inside was a gold medal unlike any trophy the audience had ever seen.
Across the front were engraved the words:
THE HEART OF A CHAMPION
The president of the federation smiled.
"This medal will never be won inside a wrestling ring."
"It will only be awarded to those whose courage changes lives."
He turned toward Ryan.
"And no one deserves to receive the first one more than you."
The crowd erupted.
The medal was placed around Ryan's neck.
For a moment, the little boy simply stared at it in disbelief.
Then he looked toward the Iron Titan.
"I don't think I earned this alone."
The giant smiled.
Ryan removed the medal from his own neck.
To everyone's surprise, he gently placed it around the Iron Titan's neck instead.
"You taught me that real champions protect people."
The giant's eyes filled with tears.
He carefully lifted the medal and placed it so it rested between them both.
"No."
"We share it."
The audience exploded into the longest standing ovation in the federation's history.
As cameras flashed and applause filled the hall, the narrator's final words echoed through the arena:
"The strongest person is not the one who never falls...
It is the one who lifts others every time they rise."
The screen slowly faded to black.
