Chapter 8 - The Empire and the Queen

Six months later, the Moretti estate was filled with the sound of string quartets, laughter, and clinking champagne glasses.
It was an event the city’s underworld and high society whispered about in breathless awe: the wedding of Daniel Moretti and Maria Bennett.
The ceremony was held in the glass-domed courtyard of the main estate, surrounded by white roses and flickering candlelight. Maria wore a stunning, minimalist ivory gown that radiated elegance and power, while Lily served as the flower girl, scattering petals down the aisle with absolute pride.
Standing at the altar, waiting for her, was Daniel. For the first time in his life, the feared mafia king looked entirely at peace.
As Maria reached his side, Daniel took her hand, his fingers warm and steady.
“You know,” Daniel whispered softly as the priest began to speak, “when you stopped to help an old woman at the airport, I thought it was just a random act of kindness.”
“And now?” Maria whispered back with a playful smile.
“Now,” Daniel murmured, pressing a warm kiss to the back of her hand, “I realize it was the exact moment the universe decided to save my soul.”
When the ceremony concluded and the crowd erupted into applause, Daniel pulled Maria into a deep, passionate embrace, sealing an alliance born not of blood or fear, but of an unexpected choice made in an airport terminal.
Far away from the gala, in a quiet wing of the estate, Clara Moretti sat by the window, watching the fireworks burst across the night sky above the harbor. She wore her favorite gray coat, her pearl brooch pinned neatly at her collar, and smiled.

She had lost her way once in a crowded terminal.
And in return, she had given her son an empire, a family, and a queen who would rule beside him forever.
