Chapter 9 - THE SUNRISE OF A NEW LIFEThirty miles away, on a beautiful, sun-drenched hill overlooking the bustling city of Irapuato, a brand-new modern home stood surrounded by green gardens and blooming jacaranda trees.

Down at the base of the hill sat the massive, polished glass-and-steel building of Salgado Logistics & Auto Care. Dozens of heavy transport trucks and personal vehicles were lined up, serviced by team of mechanics wearing clean blue uniforms.
On the front wrap-around porch of the house, Andrés stood leaning against the wooden railing, holding a hot cup of Mexican coffee. He looked out over the thriving business below, the morning breeze cool and fresh against his face.
The back door opened softly.
Marisol stepped out onto the porch. Her hair had grown back into a gorgeous, thick crown of shiny black curls that framed her radiant, healthy face. She wore a simple white dress, and her eyes sparkled with deep peace and happiness.
She walked up behind Andrés, wrapping her arms gently around his waist, resting her head against his back.
"What are you thinking about?" she asked softly.
Andrés set his coffee cup down on the table, turned around, and wrapped his arms around her, pulling her warm, healthy body close to his heart. He looked down into her eyes—the eyes of the woman who had survived hell, beat cancer, and stood by him through the darkest storm of his life.
"I was thinking about Alberta," Andrés smiled gently, kissing her forehead. "About how cold those nights were, and how I used to stare at the frozen ceiling, wondering if all that pain was ever going to lead to something real."
Marisol reached up, her soft hand gently touching his cheek. "And what do you think now?"
Andrés looked out over the horizon—at their home, their thriving business, and the bright, endless sky above them.
"I think the cold is finally gone," Andrés whispered.
