Chapter 4 - The Recorded Truth"You're bluffing," Julian stammered, though a drop of cold sweat was now visibly rolling down his temple. "You weren't recording!"

"Are you willing to bet your family’s multi-billion-dollar reputation on that, Julian?" I asked, holding my phone high enough for everyone—including the police officers—to see the active recording file with a timestamp stretching back two hours.
The lead police officer looked at Julian, then back at me. "Ma'am, play the audio."
I tapped the screen. The speaker burst to life, crystal clear, amplified in the quiet terminal:
"...Close your nose. And your mouth too..." Julian's arrogant voice echoed loudly, followed by the sound of shuffling, the loud thump of his foot hitting the armrest, and then his distinctly threatening whisper from thirty minutes later: "...Enjoy having nice things while you can, sweetheart. Because starting today, people who cross me lose everything they care about. I'm going to make sure you rot in a cell..."
The surrounding crowd gasped. Several people pulled out their phones, actively filming the confrontation.
The police officer’s face darkened completely. He turned toward Julian, his demeanor shifting instantly from suspicious to stern. "Sir, making verbal threats and creating a public disturbance on a commercial aircraft are federal offenses under FAA jurisdiction."
"Wait, no! That’s taken out of context!" Julian panicked, taking a step back behind his two massive bodyguards. "My father is Arthur Vance! Do you have any idea who my family is?! You touch me, and you’ll be stripped of your badge by tomorrow morning!"
"Is that a threat against law enforcement, Mr. Vance?" the officer replied coldly, reaching for his handcuffs.
"Officers, please," I interrupted smoothly, stepping between the police and Julian. "I am not pressing charges for the airline incident... yet. Mr. Vance is currently on his way to an emergency board meeting regarding a hostile takeover of my family's firm, Miller Agricultural. I would hate for him to miss his important meeting due to being processed in a holding cell."
Julian stared at me, completely baffled. "What are you playing at, bitch?"
"Ellen, what are you doing?" my dad whispered urgently, pulling my sleeve. "If they arrest him, we’re safe for tonight!"
"No, Dad," I whispered back, my eyes fixed on Julian. "If they arrest him now, his father's high-priced lawyers will bail him out in two hours, and they'll use every dirty trick in the book to destroy you out of spite. We don't just want to defend ourselves. We're going to crush them entirely."
I turned back to Julian, offering him a sharp, lethal smile.
"Go to your corporate meeting, Julian," I said softly, my voice dripping with dangerous confidence. "Bring your father. Bring your legal team. My father and I will meet you in the boardroom in exactly sixty minutes. And we will settle this whole matter once and for all."
Julian gritted his teeth, his jaw clenched so hard I thought his teeth might shatter. He snatched his pant leg down, glared at the police officers who were still watching him like hawks, and then pointed his finger directly at my face.
"One hour, Miller," Julian hissed, his voice shaking with humiliation and rage. "One hour. I’m going to personally oversee the liquidation of your family's entire life work. You think you're smart because you passed the bar exam? I own judges. I own politicians. You just made the biggest mistake of your life."
He turned on his heel and stormed out of the terminal, his bodyguards hastily trailing behind him.
My mother was trembling, tears streaming down her face. "Ellen... oh my god, Ellen, what have you done? The Vance Group has unlimited resources. They have twenty lawyers on retainer! We can't beat them in a boardroom!"
I put my arm around my mother and looked at my father, whose eyes were filled with overwhelming fear and guilt.
"Dad," I said, my voice steady and unwavering. "Trust me. In my line of work, I deal with predators like Julian Vance every single day. They rely on fear because behind their money, they are cowardly, careless, and sloppy. And Julian Vance just made a critical mistake on that airplane that is going to cost his father everything."
"What mistake?" my father asked, desperate for a sliver of hope.
I opened my briefcase, pulling out a confidential dossier I had downloaded during the last hour of the flight using my firm's high-level legal database.
"Julian wasn't just flying here to sign a deal," I revealed, pointing to a set of corporate tax filings and offshore wire transfers. "He’s been embezzling money from his own father's company to cover his massive gambling debts in Macau. And I just figured out which account he used to purchase his first-class airline ticket today."

My father's eyes widened in absolute shock.
"Let's go, Dad," I smiled darkly. "We have a meeting to attend."
