CHAPTER 4 – The Boy Behind the Glass

Deep beneath the warehouse, behind six locked steel doors, a man watched the little boy on a wall of security monitors.

He was old.

Very old.

But his eyes were sharp, cold, and full of victory.

"After all these years," he whispered, "the child finally came back."

Upstairs, the commander held the boy tightly, but the boy did not hug him back.

Instead, he looked over his father's shoulder and stared directly at the hidden camera.

Then he smiled.

The commander felt his blood turn cold.

"Son?" he whispered. "What's wrong?"

The boy slowly stepped back.

"My grandmother told me one more thing," he said.

The entire warehouse went silent.

The prisoners, the soldiers, even the alarms seemed to stop.

The boy lifted his small hand and pointed at the commander.

"She said my real father died the night you took his name."

The commander froze.

Every rifle turned toward him again.

Then the boy pulled a folded paper from his jacket.

It was a birth certificate.

But the name on it was not the commander's.

It belonged to Prisoner 417...

A silent man kneeling in the back row.

A man everyone thought was just another criminal.

A man who suddenly began to cry.

May you like

Because after eight years in prison...

His son had finally found him.
