CHAPTER 7 — The Little Boy With the Plastic Bucket

Three years after the Hope Music Academy opened its doors, it had become one of the most respected music schools in the country.

Children from every background came there.

Some arrived in luxury cars.

Others walked for miles every morning.

But one rainy afternoon, security stopped a small boy at the front gate.

He couldn't have been older than nine.

His clothes were soaked.

His sneakers were torn.

And instead of carrying a drum set...

He carried an upside-down plastic paint bucket.

"I want to audition," the boy said quietly.

One of the guards sighed.

"Kid, this is a music academy."

The boy nodded.

"I know."

"So where's your instrument?"

The child gently tapped the bucket.

"This is my instrument."

Several parents waiting nearby laughed.

One father shook his head.

"Another dreamer."

A wealthy student whispered to his friend,

"This place lets anyone in now."

Just then, the academy's founder—the young drummer everyone now admired—walked through the lobby.

He noticed the boy standing alone.

He noticed the bucket.

And suddenly...

He smiled.

Because twenty-five years earlier...

Someone had laughed at an old drum set in exactly the same way.

He walked over and knelt beside the child.

"What's your name?"

"Ethan."

"And why do you play on a bucket?"

The boy looked down.

"My mom cleans offices at night."

"My dad passed away."

"We can't afford drums."

"I watched your story on television."

"You said music lives in people, not instruments."

The entire lobby fell silent.

The founder slowly picked up the bucket.

He tapped it once with his fingers.

Then handed it back.

"Show me."

The boy closed his eyes.

Within seconds, impossible rhythms filled the entrance hall.

His tiny hands moved with breathtaking speed.

Parents stopped talking.

Teachers rushed from their classrooms.

Students gathered in the hallway.

The rhythm grew faster...

Richer...

More emotional.

When Ethan finished, there wasn't a single dry eye in the building.

The founder smiled through tears.

"I've heard that rhythm before."

Everyone looked confused.

He reached into his office and returned carrying the same cracked drumsticks his father had once used.

He carefully placed them in Ethan's hands.

"My father believed these sticks should always belong to someone who reminds the world that talent has no price tag."

The boy stared in disbelief.

"But... these belong to you."

The founder smiled.

"No."

"They belonged to hope."

The academy erupted into applause.

But at that very moment, a black luxury SUV stopped outside.

A wealthy businessman stepped out holding legal documents.

He looked directly at the founder and announced,

"I'm here to shut this academy down."

May you like

The smiles disappeared instantly.
