Chapter 7 - The Boardroom AmbushThe downtown skyscraper of Calloway Enterprises hummed with high-stakes tension.

By nine o'clock the next morning, the seventy-fifth-floor boardroom was packed. The mahogany table was surrounded by Chicago’s most ruthless corporate titans, lawyers, and financial advisors. At the head of the table sat Vivian Calloway.
She wore a pristine Chanel power suit, her honey-blonde hair pinned up in an immaculate twist. She exuded an air of chilling confidence, dabbing a lace handkerchief to her eyes as she addressed the board.
"Gentlemen," Vivian’s voice trembled with rehearsed, theatrical grief. "It breaks my heart to bring this forward. But as Grant’s wife, and as the mother of his children, I have a duty to protect this company. My husband’s erratic behavior, his sudden isolation, and his declining health have made it impossible for him to lead."
A murmur rippled through the room. One of the dissenting board members, a sleek corporate lawyer named Marcus Vance, nodded sympathetically.
"We have medical affidavits indicating severe mental fatigue and paranoia," Vance added smoothly, sliding folders across the table. "We move for an immediate vote of no confidence and emergency transfer of voting rights to Mrs. Calloway."
Vivian bit her lower lip, fighting back a triumphant smile. The trap was sprung. The board members raised their pens, ready to sign away an empire.
Clack.
The heavy double doors of the boardroom swung open with a force that rattled the glass walls.
Silence descended instantly. Every head turned.
Grant Calloway walked into the room.
He didn't look sick. He didn't look erratic. He looked like an apex predator stepping into a room full of mice. His dark suit was immaculate, his posture rigid, and his gray eyes swept over the board members with absolute disdain.
Behind him walked two armed private security operatives, and right beside them—in a crisp, tailored suit provided by Grant’s private stylist—stood me.
Vivian’s face drained of every drop of color. Her pen slipped from her fingers, clattering loudly against the mahogany table.
"Grant..." she choked out, her voice pitching an octave higher. "You... you’re supposed to be—"
"Dead?" Grant finished for her, his voice slicing through the air like a razor blade. He walked slowly to the head of the table, standing directly behind Vivian’s chair. "Sorry to disappoint you, my dear, but my health has never been better."
"This is an outrage!" Marcus Vance stood up, slamming his hands on the table. "Security, remove these intruders! Mrs. Calloway has legal proxy—"
"Sit down, Marcus," Grant commanded softly, but the sheer weight of his authority made the lawyer freeze.

Grant snapped his fingers. One of the security operatives stepped forward, placing a heavy metallic briefcase on the table and opening it. Inside lay a high-resolution forensic tablet and a sealed glass vial.
"Let’s talk about legal proxies, corporate conspiracy, and attempted murder," Grant said, his voice echoing off the glass walls.
