Chapter 2 - The Fall of the Inner Circle—Don't listen to him!— K19 shrieked, his composure completely dissolving into feral desperation. He lunged backward, grabbing the nearest guard by the collar of his jacket and shoving the barrel of his own pistol under the man's chin. —He’s a ghost! He’s finished! If he lives, we all hang for the diamond he stole! Move, or I blow his head off!—

The guard didn't flinch. Instead, his eyes locked onto K19’s sweating forehead with a cold, terrifying clarity.
—You said the boss stole the diamonds, K19, the guard whispered softly, his finger slipping back onto his own trigger. —You said his codes were used. But those logs... only two people in this entire syndicate had master administrative override. The boss... and you.—
—I am second-in-command! I had to audit the—
—You didn't audit. You facilitated, another voice chimed in from the shadows of the club entrance.
Heavy steel doors — the ones locked from the outside just ten minutes ago — swung open with a slow, dramatic creak. Standing in the threshold wasn't an assassin or an executioner. It was old man Miller, the syndicate’s chief accountant, flanked by four armed enforcers who looked like they had just walked out of a firing squad. Miller was holding a thick manila folder under one arm, his glasses glinting under the dim emergency lights.
K19’s pistol wavered. The human shield he was holding slipped from his grip as the guard stepped smoothly to the side, leaving K19 standing entirely alone in the center of the ring.
—You forgot to check the off-site cloud backup, K19, Miller said, adjusting his spectacles as he walked forward, his footsteps echoing like gunshots across the polished mahogany floor. —You thought deleting the local server wiped the slate clean. But some of us have been balancing these books since before you were wearing tailored suits. Every transfer to the offshore accounts in the Caymans? Routed directly through your personal cryptographic signature.—
Miller stopped five paces away, tossing the manila folder onto the floor right at K19’s feet. The pages spilled out, glowing white under the single overhead light — bank statements, shell company registrations, and signed shipping manifests bearing K19’s own hand.
—You wanted the empire, K19, the boss said, stepping forward, the baby still resting securely against his chest. The war dog paced slowly in a wide circle around K19, cutting off every possible avenue of escape. —You wanted the ports, the diamonds, the streets. But an empire isn't something you can steal by tricking children into holding guns. It’s built on blood, loyalty, and knowing when to protect the future.—
K19 looked down at the papers, then up at the dozen men who had lowered their weapons only to raise them again — this time, all pointing directly at him.

—You think this is over?— K19 snarled, a manic grin spreading across his face as his hand dipped slowly toward his ankle holster. —You think a baby makes you untouchable? You’re weak! You brought a liability into a war zone!—
Before K19’s fingers could wrap around the grip of his hidden blade, the war dog didn't bark. It struck.
