Chapter 6 - Chaos in the DarkThe room was instantly choked with acrid white smoke and the smell of cordite.

Bullets chewed through mahogany tables and shattered the remaining liquor bottles behind the bar, raining glass down like diamonds. The boss didn't fire a shot. With the baby secured tightly against his chest in the military-grade sling, he lunged forward into the smoke-filled melee, moving with a terrifying, ghost-like grace.

A black-ops operator lunged out of the haze, rifle raised to point-blank range.

Before the man could pull the trigger, the massive war dog caught him mid-air, slamming him into a concrete pillar with a bone-crunching impact that knocked the operator unconscious before he hit the floor.

—Cover the flanks!— Miller shouted over the din, holding his own heavy caliber revolver with both hands, firing methodically into the shadows where two tactical officers were trying to flank the bar.

The syndicate guards, fighting with the furious redemption of men who realized they had nearly destroyed their own family, formed a protective wall around the boss. They weren't just fighting for survival anymore; they were fighting for the future.

Through the flashing muzzle light, the boss spotted Vance.

The federal commander was coughing, wiping his visor clear of smoke, dragging himself up from behind a heavy leather sofa. He spotted the boss through the haze and raised his carbine with a snarl, his finger tightening on the trigger.

—End of the line, old man!— Vance screamed over the gunfire.

The boss didn't dodge. Instead, he reached into his jacket, pulled out a small, heavy-duty encrypted remote device, and pressed a single crimson button.

High above them, outside the club, a series of muffled explosions rocked the street.

The club's entire electrical grid — wired directly into the city’s municipal transformer grid through an underground bypass the boss had installed years ago — instantly overloaded. Every emergency light, red strobe, and tactical comms screen died in a single, simultaneous spark.

Total, pitch-black darkness enveloped the room.
