Chapter 7 - The Legal AmbushBefore Andrew could muster a defense, the crunch of gravel outside signaled the arrival of a second vehicle. A local sheriff's deputy, accompanied by a process server appointed by Marcus Vance’s office, walked up the steps and knocked firmly on the open door.

“Andrew Parker?” the deputy asked, stepping inside.
“Yes?” Andrew whispered, terrified.
“You’ve been served with an emergency restraining order, a temporary eviction notice barring you from the primary residence on Maple Street, and an immediate asset freeze on all joint accounts connected to Claire Parker, née Morgan.” The process server handed Andrew a thick stack of legal papers that fluttered down onto the floor like autumn leaves.
Chloe looked at Andrew in absolute horror. “Wait... you don't even own your house? You told me you bought it!”

Andrew looked between the deputy, Chloe, and Claire, his entire facade of charming competence completely dissolving into pathetic desperation. “Claire, you can’t do this to me. We’ve been married for seven years! We can work this out!”
“Seven years of lies, financial parasitism, and emotional abuse,” Claire said, turning toward the door. “Happy birthday to me, Andrew.”
