Chapter 8 - The Final TwistSix months later.

The trial of the Vance family was the trial of the century. Dominic received twenty-five years in maximum security with no possibility of parole for aggravated torture, domestic violence, and conspiracy. Victoria and Arthur received thirty years each for federal money laundering, extortion, and illegal wire transfers.

Vance Construction was officially renamed Sterling Enterprise, restored under my grandfather’s original legacy name.

I stood on the top-floor balcony of my new office, looking out over the city skyline. The heavy bandages were gone, leaving behind a faint, silvery scar across my palm—a permanent reminder of what I had survived, and what I had conquered.

My phone buzzed. It was an official letter from the state department delivered to my inbox.

I clicked it open, expecting routine corporate paperwork. But as I read the attached DNA forensic report from the state evidence locker, my heart stopped.

The document read:

SUBJECT: Vance, Dominic DNA COMPATIBILITY ANALYSIS: 0.00% matching with Vance, Arthur. MATCH FOUND: Trust Beneficiary Case #4092 - Sterling, Eleanor (Grandmother).

I gasped, dropping my tablet onto the desk.

Dominic wasn't Arthur’s son.

Through an illicit affair twenty-eight years ago, Dominic was actually my grandmother’s illegitimate child—a secret son she had given up, who was secretly adopted by Victoria to secure the Sterling fortune.

Dominic wasn't an outsider who targeted me. He was my half-uncle, manipulated by Victoria from birth to steal what was rightfully mine.

A slow, bittersweet smile spread across my face. My grandmother hadn't just created a trap for the Vances. She had ensured that no matter what happened, every single penny, every asset, and every piece of truth would return home to me.

I looked down at the scar on my hand, took a deep breath of fresh air, and closed the laptop.

The story was finally over. And I had won.
