Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Counter-Strike

Viral Title: TWIN ORPHANS REWRITE THE BILLIONAIRE’S EMPIRE! THE UNEXPECTED ENDING THAT WILL CRY A RIVER!Victor Vance dropped his glass of scotch, the amber liquid staining his white rug. He frantically pounded on his keyboard, pulling up the security cameras for Sub-Level 4—the heart of Vanguard Holdings' encrypted mainframe.
The screen flickered to life.
There stood Maxwell and Lily. They weren't in Malibu. They had slipped out of the safehouse with Evelyn's help, using her old janitorial keycards to infiltrate the building through the maintenance shafts.
Lily’s bare feet were planted firmly on the cold, anti-static flooring of the server room. But she wasn't just standing there. She was holding a massive, industrial-grade water valve wrench. Maxwell was standing right next to her, his crimson-glowing legs humming with terrifying energy.
"How did you get in there?!" Victor screamed into the intercom. "Security! Intercept them!"
"The security guards are asleep, Mr. Vance," Lily’s voice came through, sweet yet deadly serious. "My grandma knows all the blind spots in this building. She used to clean them."
Richard stared at the monitor, a sudden wave of immense pride washing over his chest. His children weren't victims. They were Wilsons.
"Mr. Vance," Maxwell said, looking directly into the camera lens. "You said my legs have a pathogen. But you forgot that these legs were built by my dad’s company. I just ran a diagnostic override using Lily's fingerprint on my shin sensor. Our combined DNA didn't unlock your software—it deleted it."
"No!" Victor roared, typing furiously as his screens began to flash error codes. DATA CORRUPTION: 45%... 60%... 80%...
"And one more thing," Lily added, giving a bright, beautiful smile that looked exactly like Jennifer Wilson’s. "My grandma always says that when you're grounded to the earth, you can channel any current."
Lily slammed the industrial wrench into the main liquid-cooling pipe of the server mainframe.
A torrent of pressurized, conductive fluid exploded across the room. At the exact same instant, Maxwell grabbed Lily’s hand and forced his neural-adaptive prosthetics into a localized EMP discharge—a feature his dad had installed to prevent lightning strikes from frying his circuits.
The combination was catastrophic.
The electrical surge, amplified by the water, raced up the Vanguard servers. Upstairs in the penthouse, Victor’s desk console exploded in a shower of sparks. The holographic screens shattered. The entire building’s power grid blew out, plunging Vanguard Holdings into total darkness.
Ten billion dollars worth of stolen data, illegal research, and corporate blackmail was wiped clean in a single fraction of a second.
Victor collapsed back into his chair, staring blankly at his smoking desk. He was ruined. Not just defeated—bankrupted, exposed, and entirely finished.
Richard stepped forward, the shotgun resting casually against his leg. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver flash drive. "While my kids were destroying your hardware, my security team was downloading your personal financial logs to the FBI. You’re going away for life, Victor. For murder, kidnapping, and corporate terrorism."
Victor didn't even look up as Richard turned and walked out into the rain.
One Month LaterThe California sun was bright and warm, casting a golden glow over the private beach behind the Wilson estate.
The sound of crashing waves filled the air.
Richard Wilson sat on a wooden bench on the sand, dressed not in a suit, but in a simple linen shirt and shorts. For the first time in eight years, the heavy lines of grief were gone from his face. Next to him sat Dr. Evelyn Harris, sipping a cup of tea, watching the horizon.
Down by the water's edge, two children were laughing.
Maxwell’s prosthetics had been completely rebuilt by Richard himself, free of any corporate malware, tuned perfectly to his and Lily’s shared genetic markers. They didn't glow red or click loudly anymore. They moved with the silent, flawless grace of a true miracle.
And right next to him was Lily.
She was wearing a beautiful, brand-new custom-made summer dress. But as she ran across the wet sand, chasing her brother toward the crashing waves, her feet were completely bare.
Richard had offered to buy her every shoe store in Beverly Hills. Lily had declined, choosing instead to feel the world beneath her toes.
Maxwell slowed down, waiting for her. He looked at his titanium feet sinking slightly into the wet sand, then looked at Lily’s bare feet next to his.
"Hey, Lily?" Maxwell called out over the sound of the wind.
"Yeah?"
"You were right."
"About what?" she asked, wiping a splash of ocean water from her cheek.
Maxwell smiled, a bright, unbroken expression that reached his eyes.
"My legs do have superpowers. They brought my sister back."

Lily laughed, grabbing his hand tightly, their fingers interlocking. "Come on, robot boy! Bet you can't catch me!"
They took off running together across the shoreline, their steps perfectly in sync, leaving two distinct sets of footprints in the sand—one of metal, one of skin—both leading toward a future that no amount of money could ever buy.
