Chapter 3 - THE DNA TRAP

Viral Title: The Billionaire Ran a DNA Test on the Orphan Girl. The Doctor’s Face Went Pale When the Results Printed.Graham sat in his private penthouse, the encrypted flash drive lying on the glass desk in front of him.
He had called Dr. Evans, his personal family physician and a trusted friend, to examine Maisie. The little girl was currently asleep in the guest room, wrapped in a warm blanket after eating a hot meal.
"She’s physically fine, Graham," Dr. Evans said, walking into the study and rubbing his temples. "Mildly malnourished, some bruising on her ankles, but nothing permanent. She’s a survivor."
"And the DNA swab I asked you to run?" Graham asked, his voice tight.
Dr. Evans didn't answer immediately. He closed the door to the study, his hands trembling slightly as he pulled a printed report from his leather bag. He didn't hand it to Graham. He just stared at it.
"Graham... where did you find this child?"
"I told you. In the basement of the Harrington warehouse. Why?"
"I ran her DNA through your private family database, just like you asked, to see if we could find any registered relatives," Dr. Evans said, his voice dropping to a whisper. "I thought there was a mistake. I ran the test three times."
Graham stood up, his heart hammering against his ribs. "Evans. Speak to me."
"The girl... Maisie. She is a 99.9% genetic match to your sister, Sarah."
Graham felt the room tilt. "That’s impossible. Sarah died fifteen years ago. She was eighteen. She died in a car crash. The car went over the bridge into the lake. They never found her body, but..."
"But Maisie is five years old," Evans finished, his voice shaking. "She isn't your sister, Graham. But she is her biological daughter."
Graham fell back into his chair, his mind spinning into chaos.
Sarah was alive? Or had she been kept alive?
He looked at the flash drive on his desk. If Maisie was Sarah’s daughter, then Clara Harrington wasn't just a trespassing stranger. The Harrington family had been business partners with Graham’s late father. They had been there the night Sarah disappeared.
Suddenly, the lights in the penthouse flickered.
The backup generators hummed, but then, they died too. Total darkness descended on the luxury high-rise.
"Dr. Evans?" Graham called out, reaching into his pocket for his phone.
A sharp, metallic pop echoed through the apartment. It was the sound of a suppressed gunshot.

Dr. Evans gasped, falling heavily to the floor.
Hook: They didn't just want the flash drive. They wanted to erase the child.
