Chapter 4 - From Managing Partner to Absolute Nothing

Viral Hook: THE RUTHLESS PUNISHMENT: HE FORGOT WHERE HE CAME FROM, SO THE BILLIONAIRE STRIPPED HIM OF EVERYTHING BEFORE SUNRISE!The revelation hung in the air, heavy and toxic. Mateo looked at his hands—hands that had never worked the brutal hours his mother had, hands that had signed multi-million dollar contracts while she boiled corn husks in the freezing dawn. He had spent his entire life believing he was genetically superior to the woman who raised him, believing his intelligence came from some cosmic fluke rather than her sacrifice.

Now he knew the truth: he possessed the blood of the Otero empire, but he possessed none of the honor.

"Father..." Mateo choked out the word, the syllable foreign and desperate on his tongue. He took a step toward Alejandro, reaching out a hand. "I... I didn't know. If I had known who she was, if I had known who you were—"

"If you had known, you would have treated her like a queen," Alejandro interrupted, his voice dropping into an icy abyss of disgust. "But because you thought she was just a poor, broken woman who gave up her life to sell tamales on the street corner, you treated her like garbage. You hid her in the dark so your wealthy friends wouldn't see the woman who bought your very education with the sweat of her brow."

Alejandro turned his back on Mateo, pulling out his sleek, custom smartphone. He speed-dialed a number.

"Sir?" the voice of the company’s Chief Legal Officer answered on the first ring.

"Cancel the Managing Partner announcement for tomorrow morning," Alejandro commanded, his eyes fixed on the rustic wooden photo frame in the hallway. "Furthermore, terminate Mateo’s employment with Otero Industries effective immediately. Revoke his access to all corporate accounts, freeze his company-issued credit lines, and repossess the Polanco penthouse. It belongs to the corporate real estate portfolio. He has until midnight to vacate the premises."

"Mr. Otero—Alejandro, please!" Mateo fell to his knees, tears of pure terror streaming down his face. "I worked twelve years for you! I built the Northern Expansion project! You can't strip me of everything over a personal mistake!"

"A personal mistake?" Alejandro turned around, his eyes flashing with a terrifying brilliance. "You didn't just disrespect a woman, Mateo. You disrespected my savior. You disowned the only woman I ever loved. You think you built that project? You built it on the foundation of her broken back! You are fired. And as long as I draw breath in this country, no financial institution, no real estate firm, and no elite circle will ever whisper your name again. You wanted to be part of the elite? You are officially blacklisted."

Mateo looked at his mother, begging with his eyes for her to intervene. "Mom... please. Tell him. Tell him how hard I worked. Tell him I did it for us!"

Doña Carmen looked down at her son. Her face, weathered by decades of poverty and the deep scar of love, showed no anger. Only an immense, heartbreaking pity.

"I stayed in the kitchen because I loved you, Mateo," she said softly. "But I cannot save you from the man you have become. You must learn what it means to be nothing, so you can finally learn how to be a man."
