CHAPTER 1: The Woman He Tried to Erase
The helicopter blades thundered against the evening sky as Evelyn Carter stepped onto the private landing pad. The golden sunset painted everything in warm colors, hiding the darkness growing inside the man standing beside her.
Her husband, Ryan Carter, smiled as he wrapped an arm around her waist. To everyone watching, they looked like the perfect couple—wealthy, successful, and hopelessly in love.
But Evelyn noticed something strange.
Ryan's smile never reached his eyes.
"You've been distant all week," she whispered.
He laughed softly. "I'm planning a surprise for our anniversary."
She wanted to believe him.
Three years earlier, Ryan had entered her life when she was grieving her father's death. He became her comfort, her protector, and eventually her husband. She trusted him with everything—including the controlling shares of Carter Aerospace, the billion-dollar company her father had built.
She never imagined she had married the only man willing to destroy her for it.
As the helicopter lifted into the sky, Ryan poured two glasses of champagne.
"To forever," he said.
She raised her glass.
Then his phone buzzed.
A message flashed across the screen before he could hide it.
"Once she's gone, everything belongs to us. Love you."
Evelyn froze.
Her heart pounded.
"Who is she?"
Ryan slowly smiled.
Not the loving smile she knew.
A cold one.
"There was never an anniversary."
He stepped closer.
"You were always just the final obstacle."
Before Evelyn could scream...
Ryan shoved her toward the open helicopter door.
She grabbed the metal frame with both hands, hanging hundreds of feet above the ocean.
"Ryan... please!"
He stared into her terrified eyes without a trace of guilt.
"You should've signed everything over sooner."
He stomped on her fingers.
One by one...
She lost her grip.
As she fell into the endless water below...
She screamed only four words.
"My father was right!"
Ryan watched her disappear beneath the waves.
Then he smiled.
He believed she had taken every secret to the bottom of the ocean.
