CHAPTER 1 — THE PERFECT WEDDING… THE PERFECT MURDER

Everyone said it was the wedding of the year.

The harbor glittered beneath thousands of lights as celebrities, politicians, and business leaders gathered to celebrate the marriage of Emily Carter—the only granddaughter of billionaire investor Henry Carter—and Daniel Brooks, the charming entrepreneur everyone admired.

Champagne flowed.

A live orchestra played.

Fireworks painted the sky.

To every guest, they looked like two people hopelessly in love.

No one knew one terrifying truth.

Only one month earlier, Daniel had secretly discovered that Emily had inherited nearly 340 million dollars after her grandfather's death.

At first, he had been shocked.

Then curious.

Finally...

Greedy.

One afternoon, he quietly met with an attorney he had known for years.

"What happens," Daniel casually asked, "if a wealthy spouse dies unexpectedly?"

The lawyer explained inheritance laws.

No children.

No updated trust.

No surviving parents.

Under those circumstances...

A huge portion of the estate could legally pass to the husband.

Daniel smiled.

That single conversation changed everything.

From that moment forward, he stopped seeing Emily as his soulmate.

She became an investment.

The biggest payout of his life.

For weeks, he played the perfect fiancé.

He kissed her forehead every morning.

He held her hand in front of photographers.

He cried fake tears during the wedding vows.

Emily believed every word.

Almost.

Three days before the ceremony, she accidentally overheard Daniel talking on the phone in his office.

She only caught one sentence.

"After the wedding... everything will be over."

When she entered the room, Daniel quickly ended the call.

He smiled.

"It's just business."

Emily wanted to believe him.

Love often silences doubt.

But something inside her never felt completely at peace.

Still...

The wedding arrived.

Late that evening, the newlyweds boarded an enormous white luxury yacht for what everyone believed would be a romantic honeymoon cruise.

The sea was calm.

The moon reflected across the water like silver glass.

Emily stood at the bow, breathing in the cool night air.

Behind her, Daniel slowly approached.

His footsteps sounded strangely heavy.

She turned.

His face looked unfamiliar.

No warmth.

No affection.

Only calculation.

"Daniel..."

His smile disappeared.

"You really trusted me."

Emily stepped backward.

The ocean stretched endlessly behind her.

"I loved you."

"I know," Daniel answered quietly.

"That's why this was so easy."

A cold gust of wind swept across the deck.

Storm clouds rolled in from nowhere.

Lightning flashed across the horizon.

Emily suddenly remembered the phone call.

Everything clicked.

"You're going to kill me..."

Daniel didn't deny it.

He simply whispered,

"Three hundred and forty million dollars buys a very comfortable life."

Emily's eyes filled with tears.

"You don't have to do this."

He laughed.

"I already did."

With one violent shove...

Emily flew backward over the railing.

Her scream vanished beneath crashing waves.

Within seconds...

The black ocean swallowed her completely.

Daniel stood there watching.

Waiting.

Nothing resurfaced.

No hand.

No cry.

Nothing.

He walked calmly back into the cabin.

Then he rehearsed his story.

"The storm came so suddenly..."

"She slipped..."

"I tried to save her..."

He even practiced crying.

By sunrise...

Police boats arrived.

Everyone believed the grieving husband.

Everyone...

Except one old man standing silently beside the detectives.

Henry Carter's former chief of security.

His eyes never left Daniel.

Because three days before the wedding...

Emily had secretly asked him to do something very unusual.

"If anything happens to me...

Don't believe Daniel."

The old man quietly reached into his pocket...

and pressed a single encrypted emergency button.

Daniel thought he had just inherited a fortune.

May you like

He had no idea...

the real nightmare had only begun.
