CHAPTER 1 "HE RIPPED HIS PREGNANT WIFE'S DRESS ON HER BIRTHDAY—BUT HE NEVER NOTICED THE CAMERA THAT RECORDED EVERYTHING..."

The tiny red light above the dessert table blinked.

Grant never looked up.

He was too busy enjoying the applause he believed would follow his victory.

Claire looked at the camera for only a second.

Then she smiled.

Not because she was happy.

Because after years of being humiliated...

she finally knew he had destroyed himself.

Grant grabbed her wrist.

"You're not leaving."

His fingers dug painfully into her skin.

The ballroom remained frozen.

Two hundred guests watched.

No one dared interfere.

Not with Grant Waverly.

Chicago's favorite billionaire CEO.

The newspapers called him "The Family Man Who Built an Empire."

Claire knew another version.

The man who timed her contractions during pregnancy because he claimed she was "too emotional."

The man who secretly transferred company profits through shell corporations.

The man who kept telling investors she was "just the supportive wife."

Even though...

Waverly Pacific Foods had originally been HER company.

Seven years earlier, Claire Bennett had started a small organic food supplier from a rented warehouse.

Grant had been a struggling accountant.

She hired him.

Trusted him.

Married him.

Then slowly...

he replaced every executive loyal to her.

Changed the corporate bylaws.

Convinced the media that he alone built the empire.

Tonight...

he planned to erase her completely.

Sabrina stepped closer.

"You should apologize to your husband."

Claire looked directly into her eyes.

"You really think you'll replace me?"

Sabrina laughed.

"I'm already living in your penthouse."

The room exploded into whispers.

Grant didn't deny it.

Instead...

he smiled.

"Claire, you're emotional because of the pregnancy."

Gasps filled the ballroom.

He wanted everyone to believe she was unstable.

Again.

Exactly like he had done for months.

Then Claire slowly reached into her purse.

She removed a single envelope.

"I signed something today."

Grant frowned.

"What are you talking about?"

Claire held the document high enough for everyone to see.

"I transferred my controlling shares."

Silence.

Grant laughed.

"Impossible."

"I already own your proxy votes."

Claire's smile widened.

"No."

"You owned fake proxies."

The smile disappeared from his face.

For the first time that night...

Grant looked afraid.

Meanwhile...

inside the hotel's security office...

three monitors continued recording every second.

But someone else was watching too.

A man wearing headphones whispered into his radio.

"Keep recording."

"She finally activated it."

No one upstairs knew...

the livestream wasn't private anymore.
