CHAPTER 3 "THE BILLIONAIRE THOUGHT HE OWNED EVERYTHING—UNTIL HIS GRANDMOTHER REVEALED WHO REALLY CONTROLLED THE EMPIRE..."

Every executive stood the moment Eleanor Waverly entered.

Not because she was old.

Because she was the founder.

The woman the public believed had retired ten years earlier.

Grant's grandmother slowly walked toward Claire.

Without saying a word...

she removed her own silk shawl.

Then gently wrapped it around Claire's torn maternity dress.

The ballroom erupted into applause.

Grant could barely breathe.

"Grandmother..."

"You don't understand."

Eleanor turned toward him.

"No."

"I understand perfectly."

She reached into her handbag.

Then placed an old leather folder on the cake table.

"Everyone here should know something."

"The majority ownership of Waverly Pacific Foods..."

"...was never transferred to Grant."

Silence.

"It belongs to the Bennett Family Trust."

Every face turned toward Claire.

Grant staggered backward.

"What?"

Eleanor nodded.

"Your grandfather invested in Claire before anyone believed in her."

"When she married you, she asked me to keep it secret because she wanted a marriage built on love—not power."

Tears filled Claire's eyes.

She had never known the investment had quietly grown into controlling ownership.

Grant had spent years trying to steal a company...

that legally belonged to his wife all along.

Security entered the ballroom.

Not for Claire.

For Grant.

Federal agents followed.

One stepped forward.

"Grant Waverly, you're under arrest for securities fraud, tax fraud, conspiracy, and corporate embezzlement."

Sabrina tried to run.

Another agent stopped her.

"We also have a warrant for you."

She had helped move millions through offshore accounts.

As cameras flashed wildly, Grant fell to his knees.

He reached toward Claire.

"Please..."

"For the babies..."

Claire looked at the man she once loved.

Then gently rested both hands on her stomach.

"My children will grow up knowing something you never learned."

"What?"

She smiled peacefully.

"Respect can't be bought."

"Love can't be controlled."

"And a queen never needs revenge..."

"...when the truth destroys the king."

Six weeks later, Claire gave birth to healthy twin boys.

She renamed the company Bennett Harvest Foods.

Every employee who had stayed loyal received company shares.

Dr. Melanie became chair of the children's health foundation Claire established.

Eleanor retired for real, finally proud of the woman who carried the family legacy.

As for Grant...

his empire disappeared.

His reputation collapsed.

His fortune was seized.

And the only birthday gift he would remember for the rest of his life...

May you like

was the moment he ripped a pregnant woman's dress—

and accidentally exposed himself to the entire world.
