Chapter 3: The Billion-Dollar Reversal

Damon stood between his mother and the hospital bed. For fifteen years, he had built an empire based on logic, cold calculation, and winning at all costs. But looking at the two fragile souls behind him, and the exhausted woman who had endured hell to protect them, something shifted inside him.
"You aren't taking anyone, Mother," Damon said softly.
"Don't be foolish, Damon," Victoria snapped, her mask slipping to reveal a vicious glare. "I own forty percent of Vexley Pharmaceuticals' voting shares. If you cross me for this woman, I will destroy the company by tomorrow morning. I will liquidate your life's work."
Damon let out a low, dark laugh. He pulled his private phone from his pocket. It was actively recording.
"You always taught me to be three steps ahead, Victoria," Damon said, dropping the formal title of 'Mother'. "This phone is currently streaming this entire conversation directly to a secure cloud server held by the Federal Bureau of Investigation. And as for your forty percent shares?"
Damon stepped closer to his mother, towering over her.
"Two weeks ago, you signed a proxy agreement giving me full control of your shares during your upcoming 'medical retirement'. You didn't read the fine print because you were too busy tracking Sylvie. As of five minutes ago, I called an emergency board meeting via text. You are officially removed from Vexley Pharmaceuticals. You have no money, no power, and no grandchildren."
Victoria’s face twisted in pure, unadulterated horror as the two suits behind her looked at each other and immediately stepped back, realizing they were protecting a sinking ship. She opened her mouth to scream, but Damon cut her off.
"Security!" Damon shouted.
Within seconds, the hospital guards he had bypassed earlier rushed into the room. "Escort this woman out of this building. If she ever steps within a mile of my family again, have the NYPD arrest her for corporate fraud and child endangerment."
As Victoria was dragged down the hallway, screaming curses, the heavy silence returned to Room 203.
Damon turned around slowly. He took off his wet coat, tossed it onto a chair, and walked over to the bed. His hands, which had signed billion-dollar mergers without a single tremor, were shaking violently.
Sylvie looked up at him, her eyes wide with shock. "You... you destroyed your relationship with your mother. You risked the company. For us?"

Damon didn't answer with words. Instead, he carefully reached down. Sylvie gently guided his arms, placing the two tiny, warm bundles into his chest. As the baby girl with the wrinkled brow let out a tiny coo against his heart, the fierce, ruthless billionaire wept.
"The company doesn't matter," Damon whispered, pressing his forehead against Sylvie's. "Our family does. I'm not leaving this room, Sylvie. Not now. Not ever again."
