Chapter 4 - THE TWISTED AMBUSH

Viral Hook: The daughter betrayed her own father for a multi-million dollar contract. But she didn't know she was walking straight into a trap.

"Don't touch him!" Adelaide roared.

With unexpected strength, the seventy-six-year-old billionaire stepped between Julian and Archie. "Arthur!" she called out.

Instantly, two of her massive personal security guards rushed into the room, tackling Julian to the floor. Corbin Vail let out a yelp of terror and raised his hands in the air.

"Grandmother, you're making a mistake!" Julian screamed as his face was pressed against the expensive Persian rug. "You're trusting a stranger over your own blood!"

"Blood means nothing when it's poisoned, Julian," Adelaide whispered coldly. "Take him to the holding room. Lock him in. Arthur, call the FBI. We are auditing every single contract signed by my grandson in the last five years."

As Julian and Corbin were dragged out cursing, Adelaide turned to Archie, her eyes filled with profound gratitude. "You saved my life, Archie. And you saved my husband's legacy. If those planes had gone up with faulty parts..." She shuddered at the thought.

But the drama wasn't over.

While Adelaide and Archie were examining the data on the USB drive, Callista slipped out of the room. Her mind was racing at a dangerous speed. She had seen the panic in Julian’s eyes. She knew that if Julian went down, Northstar Airways' stock would crash, and anyone associated with Archie might be tied up in legal battles for years.

Furthermore, Julian’s words had planted a dark seed in her mind. What if Julian wins? Julian was young, ruthless, and still had powerful allies on the board. Adelaide was old.

Callista walked into the hallway and pulled out her phone. She dialed a number she had secretly copied from Julian’s folder on the table.

"Julian’s associates?" Callista whispered into the phone, her voice shaking but determined. "This is Callista Whitman. Archie’s daughter. I have a copy of the backup files my father brought. I can make them disappear... for fifty million dollars and a guaranteed seat on the new board."

On the other end of the line, a cold, gravelly voice replied, "Meet us at the abandoned warehouse near Sector 7 of O’Hare airport in thirty minutes. Bring the files, and you'll get your money. double-cross us, and your father won't live to see tomorrow."

Callista swallowed hard. She looked back at the study door where her father was laughing warmly with Adelaide Monroe. Forgive me, Dad, she thought. You want to be a hero. I want to be a billionaire.

She stole the backup drive from Archie’s coat pocket hanging in the hallway and vanished into the snowy night.
