CHAPTER 2 – "The Woman Who Refused to Die"

The world believed Emily Carter died somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean.

News headlines mourned her tragic accident.

Ryan cried in front of cameras.

Victoria stood beside him wearing black.

The country called him...

A grieving husband.

Nobody suspected murder.

But 300 miles away...

A fishing captain spotted something floating between the waves.

At first...

He thought it was debris.

Then he saw a hand.

Emily was alive.

Barely breathing.

She had survived by crashing through an emergency life raft that had accidentally deployed from the aircraft seconds after she was pushed.

Every doctor who examined her called it impossible.

Broken ribs.

Severe hypothermia.

A concussion.

Yet somehow...

The baby was still alive.

Weeks later, while Emily recovered in complete secrecy under a false identity, an elderly man arrived carrying an old leather briefcase.

"My name is Jonathan Hale."

"I worked for your father."

Emily frowned.

"My father died years ago."

Jonathan quietly placed a sealed envelope on the table.

"He knew someone would eventually betray you."

Inside was a handwritten letter.

Emily...

If you're reading this, someone close to you has already stolen everything.

Do not trust anyone inside Carter Holdings.

Especially your husband.

Emily's hands shook uncontrollably.

There was more.

A hidden flash drive.

Inside were encrypted files proving Ryan hadn't built his billion-dollar empire.

He had stolen it.

He had bribed government officials.

Destroyed business partners.

Created fake companies.

And ordered the disappearance of people who threatened him.

Emily whispered through tears,

"My father knew..."

Jonathan nodded slowly.

"He spent years collecting evidence."

"But he was poisoned before he could expose them."

Emily's entire world collapsed.

Her father's death...

Had never been natural.

It had been murder.

Jonathan looked directly into her eyes.

"You have two choices."

"You can spend the rest of your life hiding..."

"...or you can come back."

Emily slowly closed the envelope.

The frightened wife who boarded that private jet no longer existed.

She placed one hand over her unborn child.

Then quietly smiled.

"If Ryan wanted me dead..."

"He should have checked the body."

Because from this moment forward...

The woman he tried to erase...

May you like

Was about to become the greatest nightmare of his life.

To Be Continued...
