Chapter 4 - The Predator's Alliance

📌 "You brought a knife to a gunfight, Aldrich. But you forgot my wife brought the artillery."The courtyard of the Vale estate was bathed in the harsh, amber glow of the setting sun.

Aldrich Vesper stood next to a sleek silver sports car. Beside him was Marcus Morvath—a younger, nastier version of his criminal father, wearing a leather jacket over a tailored shirt, his knuckles scarred from a lifetime of enforced brutality. Behind them stood four heavy-set men with their hands buried deep inside their coats.

Dorian stepped out onto the wide stone porch, his hands in his pockets. Marin followed a step behind him, still wearing her gray dress, looking remarkably out of place among the high-caliber tension.

"Aldrich," Dorian said, his voice carrying effortlessly across the open space. "Marcus. I don't recall approving a visitation hour."

"Cut the crap, Vale," Marcus Morvath spat, stepping forward. "The Vesper girl ran off with twenty million in bearer bonds that belonged to my family. And we know she didn't do it alone. The little mouse standing behind you cleared the security codes for her."

Aldrich pointed a shaking finger at Marin. "She betrayed her own blood! She’s been stealing files from my study for months! Dorian, she’s a viper. She put those numbers in your head to save herself. Give her to us, let us handle our family business, and we can renegotiate the shipping contract."

Marin stepped up to Dorian’s side, her eyes fixed on her father. "The shipping contract is already signed, Father. I am officially the primary shareholder of the Vesper Maritime Group as of twenty minutes ago. You signed over fifty-one percent of the voting rights to the House of Vale when you accepted the emergency liquidity injection this morning."

Aldrich’s face drained of all color. "What? No... the documents weren't finalized—"

"I finalized them," Marin said calmly. "Using your digital signature override. The one you keep written on the inside of your desk drawer because you can never remember your own passwords."

Marcus Morvath let out a low growl, his hand reaching inside his leather jacket. "I don't care about your corporate paperwork. That money belongs to the Morvaths. Move out of the way, Vale, or we’ll paint this pretty porch red."

Dorian didn't move an inch. He didn't even take his hands out of his pockets.

"Marcus," Dorian said, his tone almost conversational. "Do you know why my father died three years ago?"

Marcus blinked, thrown off by the sudden question. "What does that have to do with anything? He had an accident."

"He didn't have an accident. Your father cut his brake lines because Arthur Vale wanted to terminate your laundering contract," Dorian said. He took one step forward, his eyes turning into twin voids of absolute malice. "I knew it the day it happened. But I waited. I waited for you to think you were safe. I waited for you to get greedy enough to put all your assets into one single pipeline."

Dorian raised his left hand and snapped his fingers once.

From the tree line surrounding the courtyard, the red dots of a dozen sniper scopes materialized simultaneously. Three dots appeared on Marcus’s chest. Two on Aldrich’s head. The four bodyguards instantly froze, their hands locking inside their coats.

"Marin," Dorian said without looking at her. "Tell Marcus what happened to his family’s offshore accounts five minutes ago."

Marin held up a small tablet.

"The Morvath main treasury in the Cayman Islands has just been flagged for suspected terrorist financing by the federal banking authority," she said, her voice dropping like ice cubes into a glass. "The tip was sent from an anonymous, encrypted source containing twenty years of your internal manifests. The funds are frozen. As of right now, Marcus, you can't even afford to pay the gas for the car you drove here."

Marcus looked from the red dots on his chest to the calm girl in the gray dress. A bead of sweat rolled down his temple. "You... you crazy bitch."

"Go home, Marcus," Dorian said softly. "Tell your father that the House of Vale is under new management. And if I see a single Morvath asset near my docks by sunrise, I won't use the banks next time. I’ll use the iron."
