CHAPTER 2 — The Father They Tried to Kill Had Been Preparing for This Day for Months

The entire country followed the breaking news.

"Paralyzed millionaire disappears after tragic cliff accident."

Television channels repeated the story every hour.

Michael and Elena played the role of grieving children perfectly.

They cried during interviews.

They thanked rescue workers.

They even organized candlelight vigils.

Social media called them devoted children who had suffered an unimaginable tragedy.

Exactly three days later...

The insurance company received their claim.

Ten million dollars.

Everything seemed to be unfolding exactly as planned.

Until an investigator opened Viktor's file.

One sentence immediately caught his attention.

"Any accidental-death claim involving family beneficiaries requires a full criminal investigation."

The payment was frozen.

Michael exploded with rage.

"They think we're criminals?"

Meanwhile...

Several miles away from the cliffs...

Deep inside a hidden sea cave...

A flashlight flickered.

A fisherman named Gabriel slowly approached a narrow opening where he had heard faint cries the night before.

What he found nearly made him drop the lantern.

An elderly man lay trapped between massive rocks.

His wheelchair had shattered during the fall, but the impact had thrown him onto a sloping ledge instead of directly into the ocean.

Barely alive...

Covered in blood...

But breathing.

Viktor opened his swollen eyes.

The first words he whispered were not pleas for help.

"They pushed me..."

"My own children."

Gabriel immediately called the coast guard.

Within hours, Viktor was airlifted to a hospital under heavy police protection.

Doctors couldn't believe he had survived.

Several bones were broken.

His lungs were damaged.

But his mind remained perfectly clear.

Detective Harper arrived that same evening.

He switched on the recorder.

"Mr. Viktor..."

"Can you tell me exactly what happened?"

Viktor closed his eyes.

A tear slowly rolled down his weathered face.

Then he spoke.

"My children didn't come to spend time with me..."

"They came to watch me die."

The room fell silent.

But Viktor wasn't finished.

With trembling fingers, he asked the detective to open a hidden compartment attached beneath his wheelchair.

Harper looked surprised.

Inside was a tiny waterproof recording device.

Its red indicator light was still blinking.

Viktor managed a weak smile.

"I lost the use of my legs..."

"...not my ability to recognize greed."

"For months, I suspected they were planning something."

"So I recorded every conversation."

Harper inserted the memory card into his laptop.

The first audio file began to play.

Michael's unmistakable voice echoed through the speakers.

"Once he's dead... we're rich."

Then Elena answered.

"Just make it look like an accident."

The detective slowly looked up.

The siblings believed they were only waiting for an insurance payout.

They had no idea...

...their own voices had just become the evidence that would destroy their lives forever.

👉 Continue to Chapters 3 & 4, where the courtroom hears the secret recordings—and Viktor reveals one final twist that no one, including his children, ever saw coming.
