Chapter 6 - THE EMERALD TWIST

Hook: The ultimate betrayal leaves everyone dead.“Pull the trigger, Father!” Greta hissed, her eyes wide with psychotic glee. “Kill him!”
Silvio grinned, his finger tightening on the trigger.
BANG.
A shot echoed through the cabin. But Dorian didn't fall.
Instead, Silvio Maro’s eyes went wide with shock. A small, neat bullet hole appeared right in the center of his forehead. He slumped forward, his gold-plated revolver clattering to the floor as his body hit the ground with a heavy thud.
The Maro enforcers froze, completely stunned.
Greta screamed in horror, dropping to her knees beside her father. “Father! No! Who did that?!”
Angel slowly detached herself from the guard holding her. She didn't look afraid anymore. The terrified, helpless girl from the cathedral had vanished.
Angel reached behind her back, into the hidden, reinforced lining of her emerald green dress, and pulled out a sleek, suppressed silver pistol.
She pointed it directly at Greta’s head.
From the dark corners of the cabin, ten of the Maro family’s highest-ranking enforcers suddenly shifted their weapons—aiming them not at Dorian, but at Greta.
Dorian stared up from the floor, his jaw dropping in pure, unadulterated shock. “Angel... what is this?”
Angel looked down at Dorian, a cold, calculating, yet deeply sorrowful smile playing on her lips.
“I’m sorry, Dorian,” Angel said, her voice smooth and devoid of her previous panic. “I told you this dress was a confession. I just didn't tell you whose confession it was.”
From the basement hatch, Henry and Deb walked out. They weren't shaking anymore. Henry casually pulled a high-caliber pistol from his waistband, while Deb adjusted her jacket, looking entirely professional.
“Meet the real heads of the Syndicate,” Greta gasped, realization horror striking her face. “You... you’re the ghost family. The Charman line.”
“The Espositos and the Maros have been ruining New York for too long,” Angel explained, her eyes icy as she stared at the cowering bride. “We needed a way to eliminate both leaderships without starting a multi-year street war. We needed you all in one room, turning on each other.”
“You used me,” Dorian whispered, his heart breaking into a million pieces as he looked at the woman he had ruined his life to save. “The charity auction a year ago... the kiss... the club... it was all a setup?”
Angel’s gaze softened just a fraction as she looked at Dorian. “The kiss was real, Dorian. I did fall for you. That was the only variable I didn't plan for. But when your father decided to merge with the Maros, it threatened my family's entire operation. I knew if I wore this dress, your obsession with me would make you destroy your own alliance. And you did. You did exactly what I wanted.”
Greta lunged at Angel in a fit of rage. “You psycho—”
BANG.
Angel didn't hesitate. She shot Greta cleanly through the heart. Greta collapsed over her father’s corpse, the white lace of her wedding dress slowly soaking in crimson blood.
The cabin fell dead silent.
Angel turned her gun back to Dorian. He didn't move. He didn't try to reach for a weapon. He just looked at her, his eyes dead, completely devastated by the ultimate betrayal.
“Are you going to kill me too, Angel?” Dorian asked softly.
Angel stared at him for a long, agonizing moment. The emerald green dress shimmered under the moonlight filtering through the shattered door.
Slowly, she lowered her weapon.
“No,” Angel whispered. “Your father died an hour ago from a sudden 'heart failure' at the hospital. The Esposito empire is gone. The Maro empire is gone. You have nothing left, Dorian. You’re free.”
She turned around, her green dress swirling around her ankles as she walked out into the rainy night, flanked by Henry, Deb, and twenty mafia soldiers.
“Leave him,” Angel commanded her men.

Dorian was left alone in the dark cabin, surrounded by the bodies of his enemies, finally realizing the true weight of the warning he had given her.
She had worn the dress. She had broken the city. And in the end, no one belonged to anyone.
