Chapter 5 - THE INTERROGATIONIn the basement of their own mansion, which Viktor’s team had quickly converted into a high-security holding area, Martha and Natalie were being interrogated. Not by the police, but by my people.
I walked in. They were huddled in the corner, stripped of their jewelry, their designer clothes, their dignity.
"I’ll give you a choice," I told them. "You leave the country, you never return, and you never speak of Claire again. Or, I hand these files—the ones detailing your involvement in your husband’s tax evasion and Natalie’s illicit art smuggling—to the Federal authorities. You’ll spend the rest of your lives in a cell."
