Chapter 7 - The Final DiagnosisJulian stared at the manila envelope as if it were a ticking bomb. His knees buckled slightly, and he caught himself against the edge of the marble island, gasping for air as the full magnitude of his impending professional and social ruin crashed down upon him.

"You... you destroyed me," Julian whispered, staring at me with hollow, disbelieving eyes. "Everything I worked for... gone in five minutes."

"You destroyed yourself the moment you thought you could treat my loyalty like a weakness," I replied, my voice steady and unyielding.

Vanessa pushed past Julian, her face twisted in pure, unadulterated venom. She snatched the manila envelope off the counter, tearing open the top flap to inspect the contents. As her eyes scanned the legal seals, her manicured hands began to shake uncontrollably.

"You can't do this to me," Vanessa hissed, taking a step toward me with a desperate, threatening glare. "I'll ruin you. I'll tell everyone what a cold, calculating psychopath you are. I'll make sure you never work in this city again!"

I didn't flinch. I simply pulled my phone from my apron pocket, tapped the screen twice, and held it up so the glowing display faced her.

On the screen, a live audio-video recording was playing. It was the security feed from our kitchen, streaming directly to a secure cloud server owned by my legal team—and currently broadcasting to a private link shared with Boston’s most prominent gossip columnist and legal blogger.

Vanessa’s breath hitched. She stared at the phone screen in paralyzed horror.

"Go ahead, Vanessa," I smiled, my tone light and conversational. "Tell the world how much of a victim you are. Every threat, every scream, every admission of your little financial conspiracy is currently being transcribed and archived for the public record. Let's see how the Boston medical community reacts to their golden boy surgeon and his mistress committing mortgage fraud."

Vanessa dropped the manila envelope as if it had burned her fingers. She turned on her heel, sprinting down the hallway toward the guest suite to grab her belongings before the media storm hit.

Julian slumped against the counter, sliding slowly down until he sat on the cold tile floor, burying his face in his hands as silent, bitter sobs wracked his body.
