Chapter 10 - THE FINAL LEGACYThree months later.

The morning sun broke brilliantly over the crystal-clear waters of Lake Michigan, flooding the grand foyer of the Blackwood mansion with warm, golden light. The dark, oppressive terror that had gripped the estate on that stormy night was gone, replaced by the quiet hum of a restored household.

Victor Blackwood stood at the base of the grand staircase, wearing a simple linen shirt instead of his usual corporate armor. He held a small, colorful storybook in one hand.

"Daddy! You're going to make me late for school!"

A bright, joyous voice rang out from the landing above. Little Chloe came bounding down the polished mahogany stairs, her backpack bouncing against her shoulders, her cheeks rosy with health and laughter.

As she reached the bottom step, Victor scooped her up effortlessly into his arms, spinning her around as she giggled with unadulterated delight.

"Late? Not on my watch, princess," Victor laughed, pressing a warm kiss to the top of her head.

From his post near the newly reinforced security console, Marco Ruiz watched the scene with a quiet, satisfied nod. The gates of the Blackwood estate were open today—not to enemies or predators, but to a new, peaceful dawn.

Serena Montigue and her co-conspirators were already locked away in a federal maximum-security penitentiary, their illegal empire dismantled piece by piece by the very justice system they thought they could manipulate. The past could not be erased, and the scars of Elena’s tragic death would always linger in the foundations of the old mansion, but the curse of the Blackwoods had finally been broken.

Victor set Chloe down near the front door, handing her her lunchbox and watching as she skipped down the stone walkway toward the waiting car where Dr. Moreno stood ready to escort her.

As the sleek black sedan pulled away down the sunlit driveway, Victor turned back toward the foyer. He caught Marco’s eye, and for the first time in ten years, the master of the Blackwood estate offered a genuine, untroubled nod of respect.

The blood on the marble was gone. The legacy had finally been reclaimed.
