Chapter 7 - The Nuclear Option"What... what is this?" Ignacio stammered, his hands shaking as he held the legal document.

"It's your retirement notice, Uncle," Diego said coldly, stepping up behind Marisol and wrapping a protective arm around her waist. "You assumed I was fighting to get Valentina into your archaic trust. You were wrong. For the past three months, I have been systematically buying out every minority shareholder loyal to your faction using my personal, non-trust liquidity."
Diego leaned over the table, his voice dropping to a whisper that sent shivers through every board member present.
"As of 2:00 PM today, my personal holding company controls 51.4% of Villaseñor Holdings. The family trust is officially dissolved. And you, Uncle Ignacio, along with every fossil sitting at this table, have just been voted off the board with zero severance."
The boardroom erupted into chaos. Elderly men shouted in panic, papers flew into the air, and Ignacio slammed his cane against the table in impotent rage.
"You can't do this!" Ignacio shrieked, spittle flying from his lips. "You're destroying the family legacy!"
"I am saving it from parasites," Diego replied flatly.
He turned away from the panicking executives, scooped Valentina up into his arms, and extended his free hand to Marisol.
"Let's go home, my love," Diego said softly. "The air in here is toxic."
As they walked out of the towering skyscraper and into the golden afternoon sun of Mexico City, Marisol looked up at Diego, a watery smile breaking across her face.
"You really bought out the entire board just to protect our dignity?" she asked, her heart swelling.
Diego kissed the top of Valentina's head, then leaned over to press a tender, lingering kiss to Marisol's lips.

"I would burn the entire city to ashes just to see you smile without fear," he whispered.
Little did they know, sitting in a parked black sedan across the street, a pair of cold, vengeful eyes was watching them through tinted glass, holding a detonator that would change everything.
