Chapter 6 - THE ARRIVAL OF THE SHARKAs the two front troopers lunged forward past Michael toward the stairs, the massive front mahogany doors blew open.

A sharp, authoritative voice cut through the air like a guillotine.
“Hold your positions, officers or face immediate federal obstruction charges.”
Every head turned toward the entrance.
Walking through the doorway was Marcus Vance—Sterling Capital’s legendary chief litigation counsel—flanked not by local cops, but by two armed federal marshals wearing crisp windbreakers bearing the U.S. Department of Justice seal.
Supervisor Vance’s face went slack. “U.S. Marshals? This is a state family court matter! You have no jurisdiction here!”
Marcus walked unhurriedly across the marble floor, stopping right beside Michael. He adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses and pulled a crisp, newly signed federal document from his leather portfolio.
“Actually, Supervisor Vance, we have complete jurisdiction,” Marcus said smoothly, his smile cold and razor-sharp. “Because the emergency custody petition you are executing was filed using forged affidavits, falsified medical records, and interstate electronic wire fraud orchestrated by Arthur Sterling through a shell corporation.”
Marcus handed the federal injunction directly to the county bailiff.
“Furthermore,” Marcus continued, raising his voice so it echoed off the marble walls, “this federal injunction invalidates any state family court order obtained through fraudulent corruption. And by order of the Federal District Court, any state official attempting to remove this child will be arrested on the spot for conspiracy under RICO statutes.”
The troopers immediately froze, exchanging nervous glances before slowly stepping back.
Supervisor Vance turned white as a sheet. “You... you can't do this! Arthur Sterling will—!”
“Arthur Sterling,” a deep, resonant voice interrupted from the doorway, “is currently being greeted by federal agents at his downtown penthouse.”
Everyone turned.
Michael looked toward the entrance, but it wasn't Arthur.

Walking slowly into the foyer, leaning heavily on a carved ebony cane, was a woman whose face made Supervisor Vance gasp in utter horror.
It was Eleanor Sterling—Michael’s grandmother and the legendary, long-retired matriarch of the Sterling empire, whom the family had believed dead for over a decade.
