Chapter 7 - The Empire Strikes BackRichard Whitaker staggered backward, his hip hitting the edge of the mahogany table. For a second, he looked like a man who had seen a ghost.

"Daniel... Daniel Ellison’s daughter," Richard whispered, the words escaping his lips like a confession.

"The very same," Claire said smoothly, resting her hands on the back of Nathan’s chair. "You and your partners thought you buried us three years ago. You thought that by stripping my father of his assets, driving him into bankruptcy, and cutting off every line of credit, you had permanently erased the Ellison name from Wall Street."

She stepped forward, closing the distance between them until Richard was trapped against the table.

"You forgot one simple rule of finance, Richard," Claire continued, her voice razor-sharp. "Debt always comes due. And yours has just arrived with interest."

Richard swallowed hard, panic finally cracking his polished corporate exterior. He looked around the boardroom for allies, but the senior partners were staring fixedly at their tablets, suddenly finding their digital portfolios infinitely more interesting than saving a sinking criminal.

"Nathan," Richard pleaded, turning his desperate gaze to his nephew. "You can't do this. We're family. If these files go public, Whitaker Capital takes a hit of billions. The stock will crater. You’ll destroy everything you’ve built!"

Nathan leaned back in his chair, resting his fingers together in front of him.

"I built Whitaker Capital from the ground up, Richard," Nathan said calmly. "I didn't build it on stolen foundations, and I certainly didn't build it by destroying innocent families."

Nathan glanced at his watch.

"As we speak, federal investigators are executing search warrants on your private offshore accounts in the Caymans. Your shares in this firm have already been frozen by emergency board decree. By noon, you won't even have a key to the executive washroom."

Richard stared at them both, realizing with cold, crushing certainty that there was no escape. The trap had been laid with surgical precision, executed by a billionaire husband and a brilliant, resilient woman who had spent three years waiting for her moment.

"You're a monster," Richard spat at Claire, his voice shaking with impotent rage.

Claire smiled—a cool, untouchable expression that mirrored Nathan’s.

"No, Richard," she said softly. "I'm just a survivor. And unlike you, I didn't need to steal to win."

Two security guards in dark suits stepped quietly into the boardroom, waiting for Nathan's nod.

With a flick of his wrist, Nathan dismissed his uncle. "Get him out of my sight."
