Chapter 10 - THE FINAL VOWLater that evening, long after the shareholders had gone home and the towering headquarters had settled into the quiet hush of dusk, I walked alone into my father’s old study at the family estate.

The room looked exactly as it had on the day of his funeral—except the heavy air of suspicion and greed was entirely gone, replaced by the warm scent of polished mahogany and old leather books.
I walked over to the old steel safe tucked quietly in the corner behind the oak bookshelf. The door stood slightly ajar, completely empty of folders, flash drives, or hidden secrets.
I knelt down, placed my hand gently against the cool steel surface, and closed my eyes.
I remembered Dad’s final words to me in his hospital room, whispered through raspy breaths while the world outside rushed by in blind ignorance: “Patience is the weapon of the wise, my girl. Let the greedy expose themselves, and let the truth speak for itself.”
I had trusted his wisdom. I had walked through the fire, tasted blood on my lips, and watched a brother’s empire collapse under the weight of its own deceit. And out of the ashes, I had built something unbreakable.
I stood back up, brushed my hands together, and walked over to the large French doors leading out to the back garden.
The evening breeze carried the sweet scent of blooming spring flowers across the lawn. Above, the stars were shining brightly through the clear night sky, sharp and unwavering.

I raised my glass of sparkling water toward the dark horizon, whispering softly into the wind:
“We made it, Dad. The kingdom is safe.”
