Chapter 13 - Blood on the SnowThe Bentley tore through the snow-covered streets at a hundred miles an hour, flanked by a convoy of four heavily armored SUVs.

I sat in the passenger seat, a loaded submachine gun resting across my lap, my knuckles white as I gripped the handle. Victor drove with a terrifying, silent rage, weaving through traffic as police sirens began to echo across the city.
"He was supposed to be transferred to the safe house an hour ago," I said, my voice trembling. "Did Luca get him out?"
"Radio silence from the medical wing," Victor replied, his eyes dark and empty.
When we arrived at the clinic, it was a war zone. The front gates were blown off their hinges. Fire raged through the east wing. But in the courtyard, barricaded behind a flipped ambulance, Luca and a dozen of our men were engaged in a brutal firefight against mercenaries wearing blank, white tactical masks—Dante’s elite death squad.
"They've got Tommy pinned in the lobby!" Luca screamed over the comms.
Victor slammed the brakes. Before the car even stopped completely, we were out.
I didn't hesitate. I threw myself behind a concrete pillar, raising my weapon and squeezing the trigger. The recoil bruised my shoulder, but two of the masked mercenaries dropped instantly to the snow.
Victor moved like a shadow, a force of pure, lethal nature. He advanced through the gunfire without flinching, his shotgun roaring, blowing a path straight to the lobby doors.
We breached the shattered glass entrance. Inside, cowering behind a reinforced reception desk, was Tommy, clutching his stomach, terrified but unharmed.
"Elena!" Tommy yelled, scrambling toward me.
I grabbed him, pulling him into a fierce hug. "I've got you. I've got you."
"Boss!" Luca shouted from the doorway, pointing to a massive timer strapped to the main structural pillar of the lobby. It was ticking down from thirty seconds.
C4.
"Move!" Victor roared.
We ran. I dragged Tommy through the snow, my lungs burning, the cold wind whipping against my face. We dove behind the armored SUVs just as the timer hit zero.
The explosion deafened the world. A shockwave of fire and glass blew over our heads, reducing the multi-million-dollar medical center to a smoldering pile of ash.

As the dust settled, Victor stood up slowly, brushing the debris from his black suit. He looked at the burning ruins of his facility, and then down at me and Tommy, who were covered in soot but alive.
"Dante wants a war?" Victor whispered into the freezing wind, his eyes glowing with an apocalyptic fury. "I'll give him a massacre."
