Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Crown and the Final EndingThe lobby of the Russo Tower looked like a war zone. Shards of bulletproof glass littered the marble floor, smoke hung thick in the air from flash-bang grenades, and the echoes of heavy gunfire reverberated off the soaring concrete pillars.

Victor and I moved as one unit, clearing the stairwell with brutal, terrifying efficiency. Every time an Outfit gunman appeared, our rifles barked in unison, dropping them before they could even aim. Behind us, Tommy covered our six with the precision of a seasoned sniper.

We burst through the grand glass front doors into the freezing Chicago night, where the battle was reaching its climax.

Dozens of masked mercenaries were pinned down behind armored vehicles in the courtyard, trading fire with Victor’s elite enforcers. Standing in the center of the chaos, clutching a silver detonator with a manic grin, was Don Salvatore—the aging, ruthless patriarch of the Chicago Outfit.

"Victor Russo!" Salvatore roared over the gunfire, waving the detonator high in the air. "It’s over! The entire tower is rigged with C4! One push of this button, and you, your little maid, and your precious empire go up in smoke!"

Victor stopped dead in his tracks. He lowered his rifle, his dark eyes locking onto Salvatore with a glare so lethal it could curdle blood.

"You think you can blow up my home, Salvatore?" Victor’s voice carried across the courtyard, clear, calm, and terrifyingly absolute.

"I don't think, Victor—I know!" Salvatore laughed hysterically, his thumb hovering over the red button. "Say goodbye to your kingdom!"

He pressed the button down with all his might.

Click.

Nothing happened.

The wind howled through the courtyard. The gunfire suddenly died down. The red flashing lights on the detonator flickered once—and then went completely dark.

Salvatore’s manic grin vanished, replaced by sheer, unadulterated panic. He hammered the button repeatedly. "Damn it! Work! WORK!"

"Looking for this?" a calm, cool voice called out from the shadows of the armored truck behind him.

Salvatore spun around.

I stepped out from behind the vehicle, holding a heavy electronic jamming device in my hand, with the blinking green lights of Salvatore’s master transmitter safely deactivated in my palm.

"While you were busy monologuing, Salvatore," I said, a cold, predatory smile touching my lips—the exact smile I had learned from Victor, "my brother hacked your remote frequency three minutes ago."

Salvatore’s face turned the color of ash. He scrambled to draw his pistol, but before he could even clear leather, a single gunshot cracked through the winter night.

Bang.

Salvatore dropped his detonator, clutched his chest, and collapsed face-first into the snow, lifeless.

The remaining Outfit mercenaries dropped their weapons, raising their hands in surrender as Victor’s enforcers swarmed the courtyard, pinning them to the cold ground.

The war was over. The House of Russo stood victorious, stronger, bloodier, and more absolute than ever before.

Victor walked slowly through the falling snow until he was standing right in front of me. The chaos of the battle faded away, leaving just the two of us under the amber glow of the security floodlights.

He reached out, his warm, calloused fingers gently cupping my cheek.

"You saved my empire, Elena," Victor murmured, his dark eyes shining with a deep, consuming devotion.

"We saved each other," I replied, leaning into his touch.

A few feet away, Tommy walked up, hands in his pockets, shaking his head with a small smirk. "So... do I get to keep my room at the private clinic, or am I moving into the penthouse with the boss?"

Victor broke into a rare, genuine laugh—a deep, rich sound that seemed to chase away the winter chill for good.

"You move into the penthouse, kid," Victor said, pulling me closer against his side as we looked out over the glittering skyline of Chicago. "In this family... nobody ever sleeps alone again."

And as the snow fell softly over the city, I knew that the girl who had broken into the devil's bedroom had not only survived the night—she had become the queen of his entire world.
