Chapter 1 - SHE THOUGHT SHE WAS MARRYING INTO MILLIONS, BUT ONE SLAP COST HER EVERYTHING!

The cold silence hanging over the grand ballroom felt heavier than the crystal chandeliers overhead. Julian remained on his knees, his forehead practically touching the polished marble floor, sweating profusely through his tailor-made tuxedo.

Madam Eleanor Vance did not immediately brush the dust off her worn, grey cleaning apron. Instead, her sharp, hazel eyes swept across the room, fixing upon Victoria Sterling—the mother-in-law whose face had gone from triumphant crimson to a ghastly, pale white.

"Did you really believe an empire as massive as Vance Global Holdings was built on luck, Victoria?" Eleanor’s voice was soft, yet it echoed through the silent ballroom like a thunderclap.

"Julian..." Victoria stammered, her voice trembling violently as she backed away, clutching her pearls. "Who... who is this old vagrant? Tell her to leave! Call security! She’s ruining your special day!"

"Shut up! Shut your mouth right now, Victoria!" Julian roared, scrambling to his feet, his composure completely shattered. He turned to Eleanor, his knees shaking. "Madam Chairwoman... please, I had no idea you were conducting an unannounced inspection at this venue! If I had known—"

"If you had known, you would have hidden your true nature a little longer," Eleanor interrupted, her tone frigid. She slowly unbuckled the apron, dropping it onto the floor. Beneath it, she wore an understated, custom-tailored dark silk suit that immediately radiated absolute authority.

Chloe Sterling, the bride, stood frozen in her $50,000 designer gown. "Julian... what is happening? Who is she? My gown... my ring... you said you owned this entire hotel complex!"

Eleanor let out a cold, dry chuckle. "He owns nothing, my dear. Julian Mercer is merely an appointed regional director whose contract expires in forty-eight hours. And as for this hotel? Vance Global owns sixty percent of the equity. The remaining forty percent was pledged as collateral by your father, Arthur Sterling, three weeks ago."

Before Chloe could digest the words, heavy footsteps echoed from the main entrance. A squad of towering men in crisp black tactical suits marched into the ballroom, led by a sharp-looking man holding a leather briefcase.

"Madam Chairwoman," the man said, bowing deeply to Eleanor. "All financial channels associated with the Mercer and Sterling joint accounts have been frozen. The black-tier corporate credit lines utilized for this wedding have been revoked."

Victoria gasped, clutching her chest. "Frozen? You can't freeze our accounts! We have five hundred elite guests here! The catering, the orchids, the champagne—"

"Are all unpaid," Eleanor said, looking directly into Chloe’s panic-stricken eyes. "And since this wedding is officially canceled, every single expense incurred today falls directly on the Sterling family. Guards, secure the premises. No one leaves until every asset is accounted for."
