Chapter 3 - The Digital Earthquake at Holloway Global

Grant Holloway pulled the phone away from his ear, frowning deeply at the dead screen. "Delusional," he muttered to himself, pacing across the expansive mahogany floor of his executive office on the fiftieth floor. "The woman almost died; her brain is clearly fried."

He tossed the phone onto his marble desk and reached for his tablet to check the pre-market stock valuation for Holloway Global’s upcoming merger with Titan Energy—a multi-billion-dollar deal that would cement his legacy as the most powerful tycoon of his generation.

He tapped the corporate finance app.

A red banner flashed across the screen instead of the neat green lines of his portfolio.

ERROR: ASSET FREEZE ACTIVE.

Grant blinked, tapping it again. Access Denied.

"What nonsense is this?" he growled aloud. He picked up his secure landline, punching the extension for his chief financial officer, Marcus Vance.

Marcus picked up on the first ring, his voice breathless and frantic. "Mr. Holloway! Thank God you're calling—we have a massive emergency!"

"Marcus, what is this glitch on the trading terminal? Fix it immediately. The Titan Energy acquisition wire transfer goes out in forty minutes!" Grant commanded, his voice hardening into the tone that made subordinates tremble.

"Sir, it’s not a glitch," Marcus stammered, the sound of keyboard clacking echoing furiously in the background. "Every single primary corporate account, every subsidiary reserve, and our international liquidity pools... they’ve been locked down by a tier-one master injunction."

Grant froze. The air left his lungs. "Locked down? By whom? Who has the clearance to freeze Holloway Global accounts? That requires a dual-key master signature from the primary board and—"

"And the principal beneficiary of the Vance Legacy Trust," Marcus interrupted, his voice trembling. "Sir... the system logs show the freeze was authorized thirty seconds ago by an override code registered under... under Elena Holloway."

Grant’s face drained of all color. He gripped the edge of his desk so hard his knuckles turned white.

"That's impossible," Grant whispered, his mind racing wildly. "She has no access. She signed the release waiver during our pre-nup review three years ago! She waived all rights to Holloway assets!"

"She waived the marital assets, Mr. Holloway," Marcus said grimly. "The trust system... it’s an independent entity. It doesn't belong to Holloway Global. It belongs to her family. And according to the ironclad clauses embedded within it, if she is ever abandoned, left medically vulnerable, or subjected to financial sabotage while carrying your legal heirs... the trust automatically absorbs and freezes any enterprise co-mingled with your personal tax ID."

Grant stared blankly out the floor-to-ceiling window, watching the morning traffic crawl like ants far below.

"How much?" Grant asked, his voice hollow. "How much is frozen?"

"Everything, sir," Marcus whispered. "Every dollar, every credit line, every asset. We are completely liquid-dead. And if the Titan Energy wire doesn't clear in thirty-five minutes... the entire company goes into default."
