Chapter 9 - Standing in the SunIt was a crisp, brilliant Saturday morning in Los Angeles.

Camila stood on the marble balcony of her Bel Air estate, holding a cup of freshly brewed coffee. The storm from weeks ago felt like it belonged to a lifetime ago. The massive Caucasian Shepherd slept peacefully at her feet, having completely transferred its loyalty to its true owner.

Her phone buzzed on the glass table beside her. It was a message from Attorney Wayne.

“The final asset liquidation is complete, Madam Chairwoman. The Stanford Foundation for Widowed and Abused Women is officially funded and operational with a 500-million-dollar endowment.”

Camila smiled—a genuine, radiant smile that reached her eyes.
