Chapter 3 - THE SIX WITNESSES EMPIRE"The Utility Worker Wasn't Just a Technician..."At 3:00 AM, the quiet corridors of the hospital were plunged into shadows. Inside Room 408, Valeria lay motionless, her face wrapped in dense surgical bandages.
A shadow moved past the door frame. A female nurse in blue scrubs stepped inside, holding a syringe filled with a milky white substance—potassium chloride, enough to induce a fatal cardiac arrest. She sneered down at Valeria, raising the needle toward the intravenous port.
"Sleep tight, little princess," the nurse whispered.
CLICK.
The cold barrel of a 9mm pistol pressed against the back of the nurse's neck.
"Drop the syringe, or I will spread your brain across that IV monitor," a harsh, commanding voice growled from behind her.
The nurse froze, dropping the syringe onto the linoleum floor.
Emiliano stepped out from the bathroom stall, accompanied by three men in dark tactical gear and a man wearing a bright yellow CFE (Federal Electricity Commission) uniform—the very same worker who had stopped at the house earlier that afternoon.
"Meet Javier," Emiliano said, his voice laced with venomous satisfaction. "He isn't just a CFE technician. He's a senior undercover investigator for the Special Unit against Organized Crime."
Javier stepped forward, pulling a gold badge from his vest. "Your entire network is cooked, sweetheart. We’ve been wiretapping Rogelio Mendoza’s communications for fourteen months under Operation Shattered Mirror."
Valeria’s right eye slowly opened. Though weak, her mind was sharp. She looked toward Javier, tears of relief pooling in her eye.
"Miss Valeria," Javier said gently, bowing his head. "I am sorry we couldn't intervene five seconds earlier to save you from that physical blow. But your father's arrogance today gave us everything we needed. You are not alone. There are six of us who saw everything—and much more."
Javier flipped open a leather dossier, laying out six photographs on Valeria’s bedside table:
Javier Mendez (The CFE Technician): Who captured high-definition dashcam video of Rogelio hurling the brick and Daniela laughing on the porch.
Dr. Arisbeth Gomez (The Toxicologist): Who had secretly been analyzing Valeria's hair samples for six months after noticing strange symptoms during her routine checkups.
Mateo Ruiz (The Family Chauffeur): Who had audio recordings of Ofelia and Daniela discussing how to slow-poison Valeria using thallium mixed into her daily morning tea.
Isabella Santos (The Maid): Who had retrieved the discarded poison vials from the estate’s furnace room.
Inspector Fernando Varga (The Tax Auditor): Who had uncovered Rogelio’s hidden offshore accounts where he laundered money stolen from Valeria’s personal trust fund.
The Recluse in the Window...
Valeria’s breath hitched as Javier touched the sixth photograph. It showed the old man who had stood behind the curtain during the attack.

Javier looked deeply solemn. "That man is Don Guillermo Mendoza. Your grandfather, Valeria. The man your parents told the world died fifteen years ago in a private plane crash."
