Chapter 20 - The Final Inheritance

The warmth of the cabin fireplace did nothing to thaw the sudden, staggering chill that rushed through my veins.

"My father..." I repeated, the words feeling completely alien on my tongue. "My mother told me you died in a crash before I was born. She mourned you for years."

"She had to," the old man—Julian Senior—said softly, gesturing to a wooden chair by the fire. "When the syndicate discovered I was working as a double agent inside Carl's security network to protect our family, they put a bounty on all of us. Faking my death was the only way to keep you invisible. Carl took you under his protection the moment I went into hiding."

I stood frozen in the center of the cabin, the heavy data drive still clutched in my pocket, the platinum ring gleaming on my finger. Every piece of the puzzle—every hidden letter, every staged event, every calculated move—finally snapped into place.

I hadn't just married into a criminal empire. I had been born into it, protected by ghosts, and forged in fire.

Julian stepped up beside me, placing a comforting hand on my shoulder. "What do you want to do, Oanh?"

I looked down at my hands, then slowly raised my gaze to meet my father's tired, hopeful eyes. A slow, knowing smile touched my lips.

"Tell ECHO to prepare the global network," I said quietly, turning back toward the snowy wilderness outside. "The queen is coming home."
