Chapter 6 - THE FINAL BOARDROOM VOTEBack on the 42nd floor of Constructora Alcázar, the emergency board meeting had reached its climactic moment.

Mauricio stood at the center of the boardroom, panting like a trapped animal. The board members—men and women who had once flattered him at golf clubs and charity galas—now refused to meet his eyes.
“You can't do this,” Mauricio whispered, staring directly at Adriana, who sat regally at the head of the table. “We were married! We shared a home! You loved me, Adriana! For five years, you never raised your voice, you never complained, you accepted every insult my family threw at you because you loved me!”
Adriana stood up slowly.
The silence in the room was absolute. Every eye was fixed on her.
“Yes, Mauricio,” Adriana said, her voice echoing softly across the room. “For five years, I loved you. I stayed silent when your mother insulted my family. I endured your sister's arrogance. I pretended not to smell the perfume on your collars when you came home late from your 'business meetings.' I did all of that because my father asked me to give you a chance to prove your character.”
She stepped forward, walking slowly toward him until she was standing just inches away.
“My father told me: 'A true man reveals who he is not when he is winning, but when he holds absolute power over someone he perceives as weak.'”
Adriana looked deep into his terrified eyes.
“Last night, when my father died, you didn't offer me comfort. You didn't mourn with me. Instead, you locked the door, put the key in your pocket, and ordered me to crawl on the floor under your dog to prove my devotion.”
A collective intake of breath echoed around the boardroom. The investors and board members stared at Mauricio in sheer horror and disbelief. Even in the cutthroat corporate world, such petty, grotesque cruelty was beyond comprehension.
“You believed my silence was weakness,” Adriana continued, her voice hardening like steel. “You believed that because I chose to cook, to clean, and to protect your fragile ego, I was your servant.”
She turned back to the board of directors.
“As the majority shareholder and sole executor of Inversiones Estela and the Salgado Estate, I call for an immediate vote of no confidence against Mauricio Alcázar as CEO of Constructora Alcázar.”
Senator Garza raised his hand instantly.
“In favor,” Garza declared coldly.
One by one, every single hand around the table went up.
Unanimous.
“The motion carries,” Adriana announced, her voice ringing with absolute authority. “Mauricio Alcázar, you are stripped of your title, your shares, and your access to company property effective immediately.”
Before security guards could step forward to escort him out, Mauricio collapsed onto his knees, his hands trembling as he grabbed the hem of Adriana's tailored trousers.
“Adriana... please,” he sobbed, his pride completely shattered, tears streaming down his face in front of the entire board. “Don't do this to me! I'm nothing without this company! I'm sorry! I'll do anything! I'll crawl under Bruno! I'll crawl under you! Just don't take everything away from me!”
Adriana looked down at him with profound, unyielding pity—not anger, not hatred, but the hollow indifference one feels toward a stranger who was never worth remembering.

She gently pulled her trousers from his grip, stepped back, and looked at the security guards.
“Get him out of my building.”
