Chapter 7 - The New HorizonThree months later, the air in the Heights District was crisp, cool, and filled with the scent of blooming jasmine.

I stood on the private wrap-around balcony of my penthouse apartment, holding a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Below me, the city lights twinkled like a sea of diamonds against the Arizona dusk.

Life had returned to a state of profound, unshakable peace.

Michael was currently serving his sentence at a minimum-security federal facility in Florence, Arizona, where his primary daily task was scrubbing prison cafeteria floors—a fitting occupation for a man who had tried to treat my family like trash. Hattie had been forced to move into a tiny, run-down trailer park on the outskirts of Sedona, living off whatever meager odd jobs she could find, completely abandoned by the high-society friends she had spent decades trying to impress.

As for my mother, Donna? She was no longer hiding in the shadows of my success. With a portion of the legal settlements recovered from Michael's fraud assets, I had purchased a gorgeous, sprawling organic farm and botanical homestead back in Montana—complete with the very fields, orchards, and rustic farmhouse she had always dreamed of. She now ran it as a thriving artisanal market, surrounded by people who respected her warmth, her strength, and her golden heart.

The sliding glass door behind me opened softly, and Victor stepped out onto the balcony, handing me a leather-bound folio.

"The merger with the Pacific Northwest development group is officially signed, CEO Vance," Victor said with a warm, approving smile. "You are officially the youngest majority stakeholder in the company's history."

I took the folio, looking down at the signature line where my name—Penelope Vance—stood bold, unblemished, and entirely my own.

"Good," I murmured, taking a sip of my coffee as I looked out at the horizon. "Let's keep building."
