Chapter 6 - THE SHOWDOWN AT HANGAR 4The private aviation terminal at Fort Lauderdale was a cavernous expanse of reinforced glass, polished concrete, and towering steel hangar doors.

Our convoy of three unmarked federal SUVs killed their headlights a hundred yards away from Hangar 4.

Through the reinforced glass of the second-story executive office overlooking the tarmac, we could see figures moving beneath fluorescent lights.

Lewis Dudley stood by a mahogany desk, wearing his pristine, expensive wedding tuxedo—now rumpled and damp with sweat. Across from him sat his father, Richard Dudley, a graying man with cold, calculating eyes holding a gold-plated fountain pen.

On the desk sat the original deed to Chloe’s $1.8 million Miami condo.

"They're about to sign," Marcus whispered into his radio. "Move in on my mark."

We slipped through the side maintenance door of the hangar, the sound of our footsteps swallowed by the hum of idle jet engines outside. We reached the base of the metal spiral staircase leading up to the office just as Richard Dudley’s voice boomed through the open door above.

"Just sign the power-of-attorney rider, Lewis, and the condo is officially absorbed into our corporate restructuring portfolio. Once the title clears by morning, the bank gets off our backs forever."

Lewis picked up the gold pen, his hand trembling slightly. "And Chloe? What about the police report Victoria filed?"

"Victoria is a liability," Richard sneered, uncapping the pen. "She failed to secure the signature cleanly. Once the feds come knocking for her and the other women, we cut them loose. Family is business, son."

"Looking for a family reunion, Richard?"

The voice echoed off the metal rafters, cold as liquid nitrogen.

Lewis dropped the pen. It clattered against the mahogany desk, rolling off the edge and hitting the floor with a sharp ping.

Both Dudleys whipped around toward the doorway.

Robert stepped onto the landing first, his shoulders squared, his eyes fixed on his son-in-law with an expression of pure, unadulterated predator intent. Behind him stood Detective Marcus, badge raised, followed by four armed tactical officers.

And then Chloe stepped into the light.

Her wedding dress, stained with her own blood, fluttered slightly in the draft from the open hangar doors below. Her hair was messy, one side of her face swollen and discolored, but she stood tall, looking at her husband not with fear, but with utter, blistering contempt.
