CHAPTER 1 — The Little Girl Who Ruined the Perfect Wedding

Every camera in the ballroom was pointed at the bride.

Crystal chandeliers sparkled overhead. A string quartet played softly. Politicians, CEOs, and celebrities filled the luxurious hall, waiting for the wedding of Ethan Caldwell—the youngest billionaire in New York.

It was supposed to be the happiest day of his life.

Then...

A tiny girl in a white dress stumbled into the center of the ballroom.

She couldn't have been older than six.

As she fell, hundreds of pearls scattered across the polished marble floor, rolling in every direction. Gasps echoed through the room as guests stepped back in annoyance.

"Whose child is this?"

"Get security!"

The wedding planner rushed toward her, terrified the scene would ruin months of preparation.

But before anyone could touch the little girl...

Ethan suddenly pushed through the crowd.

He knelt on one knee.

Instead of yelling at her, he gently helped gather the pearls with his own hands.

The entire ballroom went silent.

The bride, Victoria, stared in disbelief.

"Ethan... what are you doing?"

He didn't answer.

He simply smiled softly at the crying little girl.

"It's okay," he whispered.

"We'll pick them up together."

The girl looked into his eyes as tears rolled down her cheeks.

Then she asked in a trembling voice...

"Do... do you really not remember me?"

Ethan froze.

The smile disappeared from his face.

His heartbeat suddenly raced.

The little girl's face looked strangely familiar.

Too familiar.

Guests began whispering.

Victoria's expression hardened.

"Who is she?"

No one knew.

Not even Ethan.

The little girl slowly opened her tiny hand.

Inside...

Was an old silver necklace.

One Ethan hadn't seen in nearly seven years.

His face instantly turned pale.

May you like

Because there was only one person in the world who owned that necklace.

A woman everyone believed had died.
