Chapter 4 - The Chaos EruptsSilence slammed into the café. It was the kind of heavy, suffocating silence that preceded a hurricane.

Fifty million dollars.

Clara stared at the papers. The numbers danced before her eyes, blurring behind a wall of tears. Fifty million. It could cure her sister's illness, buy back her family home, lift her out of poverty forever, and change generations to come. Her knees buckled, and she had to grip the counter to keep from collapsing.

"This... this has to be a joke," Clara whispered, shaking her head in disbelief. "A prank. A hidden camera show. Where are the cameras?"

"There is no joke, Miss Vance," Arthur said, his expression stone-cold and dead serious. "We have verified DNA, biometric confirmation, and Alistair’s personal handwritten codicil. All you need to do is sign this document, and the fortune is legally yours."

Before Clara could lift the gold-plated pen Arthur offered her, the front glass doors of the café exploded inward with a deafening crash.

"STOP RIGHT THERE! DON'T YOU DARE SIGN A DAMN THING!"

A shrill, manic voice pierced the air, echoing off the tile walls. Heads whipped around as a furious wave of expensive perfume and tailored fury stormed into the shop.

Leading the pack was Victoria Vance—Alistair’s notoriously ruthless niece and former COO of Vance Global Industries—flanked by two towering private security guards and a pack of high-priced corporate lawyers wearing expressions of pure, unadulterated venom.

Victoria looked like a walking nightmare of wealth and vengeance. Her face was contorted in absolute rage, her diamond earrings shaking as she marched straight toward the counter, shoving a customer's table out of her way.

"You scheming little rat!" Victoria shrieked, pointing a long, manicured fingernail directly at Clara’s face. "You manipulated a senile, broken old man! You stole his identity, you intercepted him in his weakest hour, and you brainwashed him into cutting out his own flesh and blood!"

Clara recoiled, stepping back against the espresso machine. "I... I didn't do anything! I gave him a bowl of soup!"

"Shut your lying mouth!" Victoria snapped, her voice rising to a hysterical shriek. She turned her fury onto Arthur Sterling, jabbing a finger at the lawyer's chest. "And you, Sterling! You're an accomplice to elder abuse and fraud! My uncle was mentally incompetent when he wrote this garbage will! We are contesting this immediately in every federal court in the country, and we will strip you of your license!"

Arthur didn't even flinch. He slowly adjusted his silver-rimmed glasses, looking down at Victoria with cold, icy disdain.

"Save your breath, Miss Vance," Arthur replied smoothly, his voice dripping with aristocratic contempt. "The competency evaluations were conducted by three independent neurological boards approved by the federal court. Alistair Vance was sharper on his worst day than you ever were on your best. The will is ironclad, bulletproof, and legally untouchable."

Victoria’s face twisted into an ugly, venomous sneer. She leaned across the counter, locking her cold eyes onto Clara’s terrified face, whispering a threat that sent a shiver straight down Clara's spine.

"You think you’ve won, you miserable nobody?" Victoria hissed. "You think you can just step into our world and take what belongs to the Vance family? Enjoy your little paper victory while you can. Because by sunrise tomorrow, you won't just be poor again... you’ll be wishing you were never born."
