CHAPTER 4 — The Nurse's Final Confession

The room fell into complete silence.
Daniel stared at Emma as if the world had stopped turning.
"Twins...?"
Rebecca's face turned ghost white.
"No... that's impossible."
Emma slowly placed another envelope on the table.
"This hospital file was sealed for seven years."
Daniel's hands shook as he opened it.
Two newborn footprints.
Two matching hospital bracelets.
Baby A.
Baby B.
Both carried Emma's name.
Daniel looked at Lily...
Then at Noah...
The resemblance was undeniable.
Rebecca stepped backward, tears streaming down her face.
"I swear... I never knew."
Emma nodded.
"I believe you."
Rebecca blinked in shock.
"You... believe me?"
Emma sighed.
"Because you were lied to, too."
She reached for her phone and pressed play on an old video recording.
A frail elderly woman appeared on the screen, struggling to breathe from a hospital bed.
It was former maternity nurse Helen Brooks.
"I don't have much time..."
"I've carried this secret for seven years."
"My supervisor accepted two million dollars to switch one of Emma's babies."
Daniel felt his knees weaken.
Helen continued.
"The order didn't come from Rebecca."
"It didn't come from Daniel."
"It came from someone inside Emma's own family."
Emma closed her eyes.
She had watched this video hundreds of times.
But hearing it still broke her heart.
The nurse whispered one final sentence before the recording ended.
"The woman who planned everything wanted Emma to lose one child..."
"...so she would never inherit the Whitmore family fortune."
The screen went black.
Daniel looked at Emma.
"Who... who did this?"
Emma didn't answer.
Instead, she slowly turned toward the front window.
A black luxury SUV had just stopped outside the house.
The front door opened.
Elegant high heels echoed across the porch.
Lily smiled innocently.
"Grandma's here."
Emma's expression turned ice cold.
"No..."
"She's not your grandmother anymore."
The front door opened.
An elegant older woman stepped inside carrying flowers and wearing a warm smile.
She had no idea everyone already knew the truth.
Emma looked directly into her eyes and quietly said,
"Welcome home, Mother."
"I've been waiting seven years to ask you one question..."
"Why did you sell your own grandson?"
The flowers slipped from the woman's hands.
Her smile disappeared.

And for the first time in her life...
The most powerful woman in the Whitmore family looked terrified.
