CHAPTER 3 — THEY OPENED ROOM 17… AND FOUND SOMEONE WHO WAS NEVER SUPPOSED TO BE ALIVE

The ballroom erupted into chaos.

Guests abandoned their tables.

Phones appeared in every hand.

The wedding had already become the biggest scandal in the city.

But Adrian Sinclair didn't care about the cameras.

He cared about one thing.

The silver key.

"No one touches that key!" he shouted, lunging toward Lily.

Before he could reach her, the elderly maid stepped between them.

"You've stolen enough from this family."

Adrian's expression darkened.

"You have no idea what you're talking about."

The old lawyer quietly picked up the note from Elena.

"I think she knew exactly what she was talking about."

Victoria grabbed Adrian's arm.

"Tell me what's happening!"

He yanked his arm away.

"This has nothing to do with you."

Victoria's heart sank.

For the first time since they met, Adrian looked at her not as his fiancée...

...but as a problem.

Meanwhile, Lily held the silver key tightly in her tiny hand.

She looked at the maid.

"Will Grandma be waiting in Room 17?"

The maid's eyes filled with tears.

"I don't know, sweetheart."

"But someone has been waiting for twenty-five years."

—

An hour later...

A convoy of police cars, lawyers, and family members arrived at the abandoned Sinclair Estate.

The mansion stood silent beneath the gray sky.

Its windows were covered in dust.

Its gates had remained locked for decades.

Everyone gathered outside one heavy oak door.

A brass plaque still hung beside it.

ROOM 17

Adrian's breathing became uneven.

"We should leave."

"No," the lawyer replied.

"Today, every secret ends."

Lily slowly inserted the silver key.

Click.

The ancient lock opened.

The door creaked inward.

Dust floated through the air.

At first...

The room appeared empty.

Broken furniture.

Old portraits.

A piano covered in white sheets.

Then Lily noticed something.

"There..."

She pointed toward the fireplace.

The maid carefully pulled away a large painting hanging above it.

Behind the painting was another door.

Hidden.

Sealed with rusted chains.

The lawyer stared in disbelief.

"This wasn't on the estate blueprint."

Adrian suddenly turned and ran.

"Stop him!" someone yelled.

Police officers chased after him while the lawyer broke the chains.

The hidden door slowly opened.

A cold breeze escaped from the darkness.

Then...

A weak voice echoed from below.

"Is someone finally here...?"

Every person froze.

The maid covered her mouth.

Impossible.

The lawyer grabbed a flashlight and stepped into the narrow staircase.

At the bottom...

Sat an elderly woman wrapped in blankets.

Thin.

Weak.

But alive.

She slowly looked up.

Her silver hair framed a face the maid recognized instantly.

"Mrs. Eleanor Sinclair..."

The maid collapsed to her knees, sobbing.

For twenty-five years, the world believed Eleanor—the true matriarch of the Sinclair family—had died in the mansion fire.

She hadn't died.

She had been imprisoned beneath her own home.

Eleanor looked around the room until her eyes rested on Lily.

Then she smiled through her tears.

"You have your mother's eyes..."

Lily rushed into her arms.

"Great-Grandma..."

The old woman hugged her tightly.

"I prayed every single day that one of my family would find me."

Just then, a police officer's radio crackled.

"We've caught Adrian!"

But another officer interrupted.

"Wait... there's someone else trying to escape through the back gate!"

Everyone turned.

Victoria stood there, holding a black leather folder she had secretly taken from Adrian's office during the confusion.

She looked terrified.

"I think..."

"...I just found the real reason they kept Eleanor alive."

Inside the folder was a stack of handwritten confessions.

Bank records.

Forged wills.

Death certificates.

And one final page, signed by Adrian's own father.

It read:

'If Eleanor is ever found alive... the entire Sinclair empire legally belongs to her bloodline.'

The lawyer slowly closed the folder.

"No..."

"This wasn't just a family secret."

"It was the biggest corporate fraud in American history."

And somewhere outside the mansion...

A black SUV stopped.

A mysterious man wearing black gloves watched everything from a distance.

He smiled.

"They found Eleanor..."

He picked up his phone.

"It's time for Phase Two."
