Chapter 10 - The Empire and the HearthThree months later, Ridgerest Hill looked entirely different.

The burned ruins of the old mansion had been completely cleared away, replaced by a stunning, modern glass-and-stone villa built with state-of-the-art security, wide open terraces, and a sprawling green lawn overlooking the ocean.
On the back patio, the afternoon sun cast a warm golden glow across the manicured grass.
Marin sat on a comfortable outdoor lounge chair, her hands fully healed, wearing a light linen sundress. Resting comfortably with their heads in her lap were Murphy and Mave—the two massive Neapolitan mastiffs sleeping peacefully side-by-side, completely inseparable.
Footsteps approached from behind. Strong, warm hands wrapped gently around her shoulders, and a pair of lips pressed softly against the crown of her head.
"The board meeting wrapped up early," Ronan whispered, the rich velvet of his voice washing over her. He sat down on the edge of the lounger, pulling her into his arms.
"And did everyone behave themselves?" Marin asked with a playful smile, tilting her head up to look at him.
"Like choirboys," Ronan murmured, a genuine, warm smile touching his lips—a smile only she ever got to see. "Nobody dares cross the man whose waitress saved his entire world."
Marin laughed, reaching up to cup his cheek. "I’m not just a waitress anymore, Mr. Callahan. According to the tabloids, I'm the most dangerous woman in the syndicate."
"The tabloids finally got something right," Ronan whispered huskily.

He leaned down and kissed her—deeply, passionately, and with an absolute, unshakable devotion. The dark shadows of the past, the fire, the blood, and the betrayal were all gone, burned away by a love forged in the ashes.
And as Murphy let out a contented snore and Mave thumped her tail against the grass, Ronan knew that for the first time in his life, he had finally come home.
