Chapter 9 - Blood on the Boardroom FloorThe Callahan Tower loomed over the city skyline like a monolith of glass and steel.

At precisely midnight, the executive boardroom on the 50th floor was packed with the twelve most powerful capos and syndicate lords of the city. At the head of the mahogany table sat Julian Vance, impeccably dressed in a tailored Tom Ford suit, swirling amber scotch in a crystal glass.
"Gentlemen," Julian announced smoothly, standing up to address the room. "As you know, Ronan Callahan’s recent security failures have compromised our operations, our assets, and our safety. It is time for a change in leadership—"
CLANG.
The heavy steel double doors of the boardroom didn't just open—they were blown off their hydraulic hinges, crashing inward across the polished marble floor in a shower of sparks and smoke.
Absolute silence fell over the room.
Through the haze walked Ronan Callahan. He looked like an emperor descending into the underworld. His charcoal overcoat billowed behind him, and his hands were tucked casually into his pockets. Flanking him on either side were Boon and a dozen heavily armed elite guards.
And right beside Ronan, walking with quiet, unbreakable poise, was Marin—dressed in a stunning black evening gown Ronan had provided, with Murphy trotting majestically at her heel, and Mave walking faithfully by her side. The two massive Neapolitan mastiffs filled the luxurious boardroom with an aura of raw, terrifying power.
Julian Vance’s face drained of all color. He gripped the edge of the mahogany table so hard his knuckles turned white.
"R-Ronan?" Julian stammered, forcing a shaky smile. "You... you weren't expected until morning. What is the meaning of this—"
"Save the performance, Julian," Ronan interrupted, his deep voice cutting through the room like a razor blade. He walked straight to the head of the table, stopping right in front of Julian.
"You called an emergency meeting to vote me out," Ronan continued, pulling a thick encrypted drive from his coat pocket and tossing it onto the table. "You used a master override code to burn my brother's villa and erase the records of your embezzlement. And yesterday, you sent an assassin squad to my manor to kill the innocent woman who saved my dog."
Murmurs erupted around the boardroom. Several capos shifted uneasily in their seats, casting terrified glances at Ronan.
"Lies!" Julian screamed, his voice cracking with panic. "He's paranoid! He's losing his mind! Guards, remove him!"
Not a single guard in the room moved. They all knew who held the true power.
Ronan slowly stepped forward, invading Julian’s personal space until the traitor had nowhere left to run. "You killed my brother, Julian. You betrayed my trust. And you threatened the only person in this city who actually has a heart."
Before Julian could draw the hidden derringer pistol from his jacket, Ronan moved with blinding speed. He grabbed Julian by the lapels of his expensive suit, hoisted him off the floor with one hand, and slammed him down onto the conference table with a sickening crunch of breaking glass and wood.

"Boon," Ronan said coldly, stepping back and adjusting his cuffs. "Take him to the harbor. Feed him to the sharks."
As Boon and two guards dragged the screaming, weeping traitor out of the boardroom, dead silence settled over the remaining capos. One by one, every single man at the table stood up and bowed their heads in absolute submission to the true king of the city.
